The X-Files may be rebooted with a ‘diverse cast’ as Black Panther director Ryan Coogler tries to bring back the popular series
The X-Files may return in a new guise, according to original series creator Chris Carter.
during his appearance on Mondays CBC on the coastCarter said Creed director Ryan Coogler hoped to “re-number” the sci-fi-horror series, via disgusting.
Although Carter only spoke briefly about the potential project, he may finally have a new, more cast cast, presumably without his original co-stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
“I just spoke to a guy, named Ryan Coogler, who’s going to reload The X-Files with a diverse cast,” Carter said.
He added that Coogler had “his work cut out because we covered so much ground.”
Back for more? The X-Files may be brought to life by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Chris Carter, creator of the original show on CBC’s On The Coast, said Monday; Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were seen in the original show

Rising Star: Carter said Coogler envisions a more “diverse” reboot with new characters. Coogler recently directed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; It was seen on March 9 in Los Angeles
The original series starred Duchovny as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, while Anderson played his partner Dana Scully, a special agent who is also trained as a doctor.
The two are assigned to investigate the secret “X-Files”, a collection of unsolved cases with possibly extraterrestrial or supernatural explanations.
Duchovny’s Mulder was the more curious of the two agents willing to evaluate outlandish conspiracy theories, while Anderson played Scully as the rational realist who prevailed in his more extreme instincts, though they were often right.
The hit series ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, before being revived for two more seasons from 2016 to 2018.
Duchovny and Anderson also starred in two X-Files films, released in 1998 and 2008.
Coogler’s connection will add glamor and prestige to any new X-Files project.
He made his debut with Fruitvale Station, which he wrote and directed with Michael B. Jordan starring.
The film details the last 24 hours of the life of Oscar Grant (Jordan), a black man who was shot and killed by police at a train station in Oakland, California, in 2009.
The film was warmly received by critics and earned back its $900,000 budget several times over.
The success of Fruitvale Station allowed Coogler to direct and co-write the Rocky spin-off Creed, which was again a critical and commercial success.

Long run: The X-Files ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, followed by two revival seasons from 2016 to 2018 (pictured) with the return of Anderson and Duchovny

Filmmaker: After directing the popular Fruitvale Station, Coogler went on to helm the first Creed movie and both Black Panther movies; It was seen on the 1st of March in Beverly Hills

In limbo: In 2020, the animated comedy The X-Files: Albuquerque was announced, but it’s unclear if the show is still moving forward; Still from the X-Files
He followed that movie up with Black Panther and its sequel, Wakanda Forever. In 2017, he reportedly re-worked with Jordan for the film Wrong Answer, about the Atlanta cheating scandal, though it’s unclear if that project will ever see the light of day.
Carter’s description of the potential project revealed few details other than his varied casting, and it’s possible that, like many film and TV projects, it may never come to fruition.
As noted by Bloody Disgusting, another X-Files spin-off, The X-Files: Albuquerque, has been in the works since 2020, with Carter producing.
The animated series will focus on a “B-team” of new characters, but it’s also unknown if the show is still moving forward.
