Oaks Day is here, and while the stakes may not be high on the racetrack, they are at Birdcage, where celebrities are constantly under pressure to look their best.
Known as Women’s Day, the final day of the spring racing carnival at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne is the last chance many of the celebrities will have to put their fashion best forward this year.
Unfortunately for some, the more clothing is at stake, the bigger the disaster. Here’s everyone who couldn’t put together the perfect outfit and ended up on the worst dressed list for this year’s Women’s Day.
Melissa Lee
Melissa Leong managed to make the worst dressed list again with another awkward pop-punk combo on race day.
The 42-year-old chose a bizarre velvet dress with bell sleeves, a statement collar and beaded cuffs.
The $890 Alemais dress was paired with a spotted pink scarf and a $2,050 Gucci mini clutch.
She added punk-rocker-inspired eyeliner and simple black heels to complete the look.

Shaynna Blaze
Celebrity interior designer Shaynna Blaze found herself on the worst dressed list in a wild deer-themed dress.
The tulle dress featured a relaxed V-neckline, spaghetti straps, and a thin black belt.
It would have been a safe bet if it hadn’t been adorned with deer of all shapes, sizes and colors.
However, the 61-year-old looked comfortable with her choice as she smiled under her tiny black veil.
She carried a sleek black bag and timeless black heels for the day on the runway.

Demi Brereton
Demi Brereton smiled comfortably in the entrance hall of the Birdcage as she strolled through Ladies’ Day.
Unfortunately for the former Melbourne Cup ambassador, her choice of dress, a custom-made piece by Atoir, landed her on the worst dressed list.
From the scarf’s awkward neckline to the sheer panels that showed off her lower belly, the stunning model couldn’t pull off the look.
The top of the dress almost resembled a corset, while the sides featured even longer curtains of material that confused the eye.
Atoir’s blush pink bow pumps, which would have looked perfect with a simpler dress, were lost in the drama.
The 27-year-old chose a simple headband and wore her hair in a low, loose ponytail that looked gorgeous.

Annalize Dalins
Annalize looked stunning in her super short, super structured pink dress, but unfortunately the risqué outfit landed her on the worst dressed list.
It just didn’t seem appropriate on race day and I did it. No Comply with dress code requirements.
The plunging neckline, super-high hemline, and open back showed off her stunning figure, but she stood out for all the wrong reasons in Birdcage.
She paired the look with a hat that looked like a strange cross between a cowboy hat and a typical fascinator and a cute pink bag that went well with the pleated skirt.
The AFL Wag and former Miss Universe Australia model wore simple pointy Tony Bianco pumps to finish off the look.
The youngster headed to Oaks Day with her mother and was cheered on by her Instagram followers, who labeled the look “perfect.”

Jess Gawn
AFL Wag Jessica Gawn opted for a low-key look on Oaks Day but didn’t pull it off.
The mother-of-two, who often stuns on the red carpet, looked washed out as she tried to follow the blush pink trend of the day.
The dress, which featured an awkward knee-length tie, aged the young mother of two.
The tied section revealed a strange transparent piece that flowed smoothly to the ground.
Jessica chose a blush headband and wore her hair down to complete the look.
Her husband, Max Gawn, a former premiership-winning captain, proudly paired his wife’s outfit with a blush tie and pocket scarf.

Chyka Keebaugh
Chyka Keebaugh, ‘Australia’s Favorite Housewife’, looked like a character straight out of the Handmaid’s Tale in her red caped dress.
The dress featured a strange fluorescent orange stripe running down from the waist and along the hem, earning it a key spot on the Oaks Day 2024 “worst” list.
The 55-year-old, who typically rocks a bright look, added a stewardess hat and a red and gold bag that looked more like it belonged in 1991 than today.
She added sky-high heels to finish off the confusing look and seemed delighted with her choices as she posed for photographers in the cage.

Jessie Murphy
Jessie Murphy made the worst dressed list again after choosing to follow the bubble skirt trend.
The stunning AFL Wag smiled at the door of the Lexus marquee in her Capellazzo couture bubble dress.
But the proportions of the dress seemed off and seemed more ‘Jetsons’ than ‘race day.’
It wasn’t all mistakes for the young woman who wore impressive Lana Wilkinson heels, a cute Bvlgary bag and vintage YSL earrings.
She wore her hair in a low, thick ponytail with the help of luscious hair extensions and finished off the entire look with a Melissa Jackson millinery hat.

Rebecca Harding
Model and businesswoman Rebecca Harding went straight onto the worst dressed list with her Oaks Day look.
The glamorous 34-year-old followed the crossover neckline trend that rarely works.
Then he added a handful of gold necklaces that added to the confusion.
The pale dress discolored her fine features and the full, floor-length skirt made her look much shorter than she really is.

Gemma Ward
Gemma Ward looked faded in her Oaks Day outfit. The spectacular blonde’s dress looked like it needed a good ironing before the big day.
The model combined the dress with pearl necklaces and bracelets that gave it a touch of timeless sophistication.
