A woman who was held captive and raped in a barn for more than four years in Poland by a man she met on the internet was hospitalised every time she failed to meet his demands and was doused with cold water, it has emerged.
The 30-year-old victim, known only as Malgorzata, who met Mateusz J in 2019 after connecting on a dating site, was reportedly held in a disused animal stable and subjected to regular beatings, rape and mental abuse for four years.
According to Polish media outlet Fakt, The woman was taken to hospital several times during her four years of captivity for various injuries, including a broken arm and a broken leg.
She finally broke her silence when she was taken back to hospital for treatment of a dislocated shoulder last week, where she alerted staff, who then called the police.
The woman claimed she was injured after failing to meet her sexual expectations.
One victim, known only as Malgorzata, 30, was imprisoned in an abandoned barn after meeting a man through a dating website in 2019.
The suspect, known only as Mateusz J, who denies charges of mental, physical and sexual abuse, was arrested on August 30.
Malgorzata was reportedly held in a disused animal stable and subjected to regular beatings, rape and psychological abuse.
The victim, who was also impregnated by her kidnapper, was also taken to the hospital to give birth, but was forced to give up her son for adoption.
“I couldn’t tell the doctors the truth, I was scared, and he threatened me that if I complained, it would be even worse,” the victim said. Telegraph.
The suspect was also reported to be taking the woman outside every night and dousing her with cold water.
The woman, then in her 20s, had met the suspect online and travelled to visit him in the village of Gaiki, near Glogow, in western Poland.
According to Fakt, the victim was actually in love with Mateusz, who took her out of Leszno, where she lived.
She had left her children from a previous relationship with their parents when she went to visit Mateusz, but did not return.
Prosecutors say Malgorzota had been held captive in a stone barn previously used to house animals, just four metres from Mateusz J’s unsuspecting neighbours.
They said he had no access to hygiene products, running water, a bathroom, electricity or heating during his captivity in the unlit stone structure.
They added that he humiliated and controlled the victim, keeping her in complete isolation and only taking her outside with a hood over her eyes.
Locals described the suspect, who was arrested this week and faces a 25-year prison sentence for his crimes, as a “loner” and a “weirdo.”
The case has been compared to one of Austria’s most infamous crimes, when Josef Fritzl held his daughter prisoner beneath his house.
During her four years in prison, she also became pregnant and was forced to give up the child.
Mateusz J allegedly broke an arm and a leg on one occasion. Last year, she also had to undergo surgery for an anal injury.
The disgusting criminal later fathered seven children with his daughter in the dungeon.
