A woman hurried to free her neighbor’s cat after she heard him scream in pain when he was caught in a rusty trap.

Dana Kouris looked at the post at the front of her house in the inner-west of Sydney on Friday when she heard the cat and hurried to her husband.

Mrs. Kouris underwent several cuts and scratches of the terrified cat while the couple worked to get the cat’s leg to fall

“I got the position to hold the cat, and my husband had the job of working out the mechanics to get it off,” she told 9 News.

“It was a good five minutes, and the bolt comes loose and the cat has just left.”

She believed that the fall must have been mounted by a dissatisfied neighbor, but had no idea who it would be.

“It looks like someone is making it in their yard, but I can’t pinpoint a crazy neighbor,” she said.

Mrs. Kouris said she believed the trap should be set up close by and the cat had dragged it away before shouting it.

Together with innocent pets, she also feared that school children would pass through the area.
