The Willy Wonka Experience opens in SimCity! Gamer recreates the failed immersive event in The Sims – as users joke ‘you probably spent more time making this than they put into the event’

It made international headlines this week after being called “the world’s worst immersive experience.”

And now one player has hilariously recreated the Willy Wonka experience in The Sims.

Like the real event, the SimCity version features a pitifully empty warehouse and a sad-looking Oompa Loompa.

Delighted fans have flocked to social media to talk about the game, which has racked up more than three million views since it was posted on Wednesday.

“You probably spent more time doing this than you did the event,” one user joked.

Willy Wonka’s ‘immersive’ event took place in Glasgow last weekend and promised ‘a universe where your dreams come true’.

However, furious parents slammed the £35-a-ticket event in Glasgow as “an absolute disaster” after They arrived and were greeted with a nearly empty warehouse with some Wonka themed accessories and a small bouncy castle.

Just hours after it made headlines, X user @imcxllumbtw recreated the ‘disaster’ in The Sims.

“The §35 Willy Wonka Experience has officially opened in SimCity,” they tweeted, along with two photos of the recreation.

The first image shows the nearly empty warehouse, while the second shows a somber-looking woman dressed as Oompa Loompa, conducting a science experiment.

According to its creator, the SimCity version only took 30 minutes to create, which one user suggested was “probably double” the time spent on the original event.

The Sims isn’t the only game to feature a recreation of the Willy Wonka Experience.

Yesterday, a user brought the event to life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

X user @haztecamarera posted a series of photos of his gamified version, including the actor who played Willy Wonka, the Oompa Loompa and even the strange character ‘Unknown’.

“Absolutely brilliant work,” one fan responded, while another added: “This is modern art, thank you for your service.”

One user even suggested that the event could be recreated in more games.

‘People should make recreations of the Wonka experience in the Roblox recreation room and in Minecraft too! (I’ll just throw it out there)’ they tweeted.
