Psychic: Tanya McQuoid-Hunt (Jennifer Coolidge) consults a psychic to see if her husband Greg (Jon Gries) still loves her in the third episode of The White Lotus Season 2
Talking: The end of last week’s episode – Italian Dream – found Tanya waking up in the middle of the night and overhearing Greg talking to another woman
Hanging out: This week’s episode – Bull Elephants – also features Harper (Aubrey Plaza) hanging out with Daphne (Meghan Fahy) while their husbands Ethan (Will Sharpe) and Cameron (Theo James) party without them
The episode begins with a new morning in Sicily, with Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) going to get her coffee when a man tries to hit on her and she brushes him off.
She leaves the coffee shop while Will runs past him. Back at the resort, Dom (Michael Imperioli) wakes up and finds girls already up.
Meanwhile, Harper tries to be alluring towards her husband after she caught him masturbating in the last episode.
Greg is packing his things while Tanya watches him in bed.
Dom gives the girls some money and tells them they have to leave, while Dom’s father Bert sees the girls leaving his room.
Albie (Adam DiMarco) sits down with Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) for breakfast as he mentions he wanted to hang out last night and she says he should have.
He says he doesn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable and she says he’s not the type of guy to make anyone uncomfortable.
Bert asks Dom who the girls are and he tells him not to tell Albie anything.
Portia tells Albie that she needs a new job and asks if everything is boring.
‘Now you come somewhere like this and it’s beautiful and you take a picture, and then you realize that everybody’s taken that exact same picture from that exact same spot. You just made some redundant content for stupid Instagram. And you can’t even get lost anymore ’cause you can just find yourself on Google Maps,’ she says.
He suggests, ‘Throw away your phone. Yeah… Throw it in the ocean.’
Daphne talks about going to a town a few hours away to do some shopping while their husbands try jetskis.
Bert jokes that he couldn’t sleep because there was a lot of noise coming from Dom’s room.
Bert says he got a car and driver to tour The Godfather filming locations.
Tanya is crying over Greg leaving as she tells him, ‘I could get rid of the prenup.
He insists, ‘You’ve done a lot for me, okay? You found those doctors. I– I’m gonna live because of you.’
Tanya adds, ‘But ever since you found out that you’re gonna have a lot more years, I feel like you just realized that you were gonna be stuck living them with me.’
‘Couples don’t always get along. You knew I wasn’t great at this. I’ve been married four times,’ as Tanya cries again thinking he was only married three times.
Harper and Daphne leave while Mia (Beatrice Granno) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco) walk into the resort.
Bert explains one of the scenes where Appolonia blows up, as Bert insists it’s the greatest movie ever, but Albie disagrees.
‘Men love The Godfather because they feel emasculated by modern society. It’s a fantasy about a time when they could go out and solve all their problems with violence and sleep with every woman and then come home to their wife who doesn’t ask them any questions and makes them pasta,’ Albie says.
Bert insists, ‘Hey, hey, hey. It’s a normal male fantasy,’ though Albie says, ‘No, movies like that socialize men into having that fantasy.’
Dom insists, ‘Movies like that exist because men already do have that fantasy. We’re hard-wired.’
Tanya watches Greg leave and goes to Valentina and asks if there are any psychic’s in this town.
She asks if they can do a ‘house call’ because it’s an emergency’ as Valentina asks to get the psychic’s number, ‘for the crazy lady.’
Portia gets a call from Tanya saying she needs her so she has to cut the day short.
Albie insinuates that she may have left to get away from them and Bert asks, ‘Do we embarrass you, Albie?’
‘No, it’s just… I don’t think… You realize how you sound sometimes,’ Albie says as Bert adds, ‘They used to respect the old. Now, we’re just reminders of an offensive past everybody wants to forget.’
Daphne tells Harper that she booked the whole place and they are gonna stay the night as Harper asks if it’s weird that they’re here without the guys.
‘No. They didn’t want to come. And don’t you think it’s better to just do what you want, even if it’s by yourself? I mean, Cameron does what he wants all the time. Why let them have all the fun?’ Daphne says.
Cameron and Ethan hang out and Cameron congratulates him for selling his company, ‘for a s***load.’
Cameron says she wishes he’d given him a heads up, and, ‘it was too late for me to do anything with it.’
‘Dude, I couldn’t say anything,’ he said and Cam suggests, ‘You could have hinted,’ but Ethan says, ‘It’s also illegal.’
Cameron says he should invest some of that money with him, adding, ‘I don’t know if you’ve heard, but I make people money, bro.’
Harper and Daphne go for a swim and Harper asks why she didn’t tell her they were gonna spend the night.
She says Cameron, ‘has really intense fomo and also abandonment issues. So, it’s just gonna be really funny to tell him we’re living it up at some sick palazzo.’
Harper asks, ‘So, you’re like playing games with him?’ and Daphne says, ‘We both do it. It’s like hide and seek. Keeps things interesting.’
‘Yeah, well Ethan and I, we– we don’t really do that. So, I’m– I’m probably gonna have to call him and tell him we’re gonna stay here,’ Harper says.
Harper says she has to call her husband but Daphne say she wants to call Cameron first, which she does and it annoys Cameron.
Tanya tries the psychic but it doesn’t go the way she has planned and she kicks her out of the room.
Dom talks to his son Albie and says, ‘Hey, um… I feel like you have this wrong, distorted impression of me. I have always supported women. I have always promoted women. I’m a feminist. I mean, I didn’t marry some subservient wife. Your mother is a brilliant, amazing woman.’
Dom says if he did talk with his mother, ‘I’m hoping you’d tell her that I’m really, really, really missing her and Cara, and– and that I feel… I feel really awful.’
‘Nothing is gonna fix this. You have to change, Dad. You have to stop doing what you’re doing and actually change,’ Albie says.
‘I know that. And I have changed. And I am changing. I can change. Yes. I can be the man she wants me to be, again,’ he says.
Portia goes to check on Tanya who says she’s going to take a nap but she says Portia can’t leave.
Back in Noto, Daphne and Harper try some edibles as Harper says she has to watch it because the last time she tried edibles, ‘I took way too many and I ended up on the floor in the fetal position. I kept saying, -“I am a woman.” I think I was just… Tripping out on being a woman.
Daphne asks if she likes being a woman and Harper says she’s ‘fine with it’ as Daphne adds she’d hate to be a man.
‘It’d just be so lonely. I mean, they’re so competitive. It’s like, can they even be friends with each other?’ Daphne says.
‘Cameron and I went on a safari and, um, on safari, you see all these pods of elephants and they’re all, like, bathing in the river and playing with each other and it’s so sweet. But it’s just the moms and the babies. Because when the boy elephants get too big, they kick them out of the pod. And then the bull elephant has to, like, wander through the jungle by himself, for the rest of his life. I feel sorry for men, you know. It’s like… They think they’re out there doing something really important. But really they’re just wandering alone,’ Daphne says.
Dom meets with Lucia and tells her that he can’t meet with her tonight and he has to change before giving them some money for their drinks before meeting his father and son.
Valentina is annoyed that Dom canceled but says there are a lot of other rich men there so she sets out finding another.
Cameron and Ethan are at dinner and Cameron says girls must be sliding into his DM’s all the time but he says not really.
‘What good would it do me if they were? I mean, I’m married,’ Ethan says when Cameron says, ‘Dude, everyone cheats, E.’
Cameron asks how Ethan’s sex life is and he says, ‘It’s hard, I guess, when you know everything about each other and you’ve seen each other on the toilet and, you know.’
Ethan says he doesn’t lie to his wife and Cameron jokes that’s so sweet.
Tanya and Portia are having dinner when Tanya catches Albie mouthing to her and she asks if he already met a guy here.
‘Yeah, I did, he’s really smart and everything, he went to Stanford. You know, one of those guys. He’s really nice. Like…Maybe a little too nice, you know? I wish he just, like, got my heart rate up a little bit more or something.’
Tanya tells Portia, ‘Don’t spend your life chasing emotionally unavailable men. Or you’ll spend your whole life just banging your head against a wall.’
Cameron calls over Lucia and Mia and ask if they want to party and Lucia says she has a lot of pills.
Daphne asks Harper if Ethan has changed since he sold his company but Harper says, ‘No, not at all. He’s exactly the same.’
‘I just mean, like, they were never players. And then they make all this money and they just start acting different and, like, cheating,’ Daphne adds.
‘No. No, Ethan would never do that. He’s not like that. He’s– he’s honest to a fault,’ Harper says.
‘God, I’m so glad that Cameron has a friend like Ethan. Honestly, the guys that Cameron works with… A very dark triad. Like, for real. Psychopaths. I’m not kidding.’
Harper asks if Cameron is like that and she says, ‘No. Cameron’s, like, naughty, like a little boy is naughty. These other guys? I mean, they’re like Bernie Madoff monsters. They will f**k you up. And they’re the most successful guys in finance.
Albie meets up with Portia by the pool as she watches Jack (Leo Woodall) swim and Albie asks how her day was.
‘I feel like if I murdered my boss, I could argue it was euthanasia,’ she jokes as he moves in for a kiss, which surprises her.
He asks if she wants to go to his room and she says she has to crash before stealing a glance at Jack at the pool.
Back at their room, Harper asks Daphne if Cameron has cheated on her and she says it was only once that she knows of.
‘Don’t feel bad for me. I figured out how to handle it. Like today. I do what I want. So, I’m not resentful,’ she says.
Harper asks how she handles it and Daphne says, ‘I’m not a victim. That’s all I meant.’
Back at the White Lotus, Cameron and Ethan are partying with Mia and Lucia before they head up to Ethan’s room.
Cameron is making out with a nearly-naked Lucia while Mia comes over to Ethan and starts kissing him but he turns her away.
He’s clearly conflicted as Cameron starts having sex with Lucia while Ethan smokes a joint… not seeing that Harper is trying to call.
A worried Harper stays on the line but no one answers as the episode comes to an end.
