“The Department of Defense will take a series of actions to strengthen our defense posture,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.
A White House spokesman said Friday that the United States is about to send reinforcements to the Gulf after what it described as Iran’s growing harassment of ships in the oil-rich waters of the region.

He stressed that “details about these reinforcements will be issued in the coming days.”
