Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans will reunite for a Scary Movie reboot after nearly two decades.
Six months after it was revealed that the Scary Movie franchise was working on its sixth installment at CinemaCon, it was confirmed that the three brothers, who developed the spoof films, are all on board.
‘We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work together again. “This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago,” the brothers said. Deadline. “We remember people laughing in the hallways and we hope that happens again.”
Jonathan Glickman, CEO of Miramax, also told the outlet that he was “delighted to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise.”
“The timing is perfect to bring the series back to the big screen and we are lucky to have the unique comedic vision of Keenen, Marlon and Shawn to bring it to audiences around the world,” praised Glickman.

Marlon and Shawn posted about the exciting news on their respective Instagram accounts while teasing that they were “finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for” after all these years.
“We are looking forward to having fun again on the big screen,” they added.
Fans were quick to comment, calling the project “long overdue.”
“Bring Ana Farris and Regina Hall please,” one fan wrote.
Another commented: ‘I’m happy and proud of you all!’

Scary Movie 6 will begin filming next year for a theatrical release in 2025.
This is the first time the brothers have worked together on a new original script in 18 years, according to Deadline.
The plot and release date have not been announced at the moment.

Keenen wrote and directed the first two films, while his brothers Marlon and Shawn co-wrote and starred in Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2.
