While the fans of The Walking Dead Mourning the loss of the hit post-apocalyptic horror series in recent months, writers and producers have been hard at work on AMC’s three new spin-offs.

Network representatives also announced the The show, which was originally scheduled to launch in the spring, will now premiere Sunday, June 18 at 10 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+, according to Deadline.

First Look: Fans are getting their hands on new spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City in a new trailer and an official premiere date that’s been set for June 18.
Following the end of The Walking Dead, which aired its final episode on November 22, 2022, Negan and Maggie lead the new cast as they travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that has been cut off from the mainland in search of Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel.
And with the zombie apocalypse still raging, the city in ruins is full of “the dead and inhabitants who have made New York City their own world filled with lawlessness, danger, beauty, and terror.”
Maggie’s unusual pairing with Negan seems beyond unlikely—many fans would agree it would be next to impossible—when you consider that the Saviors’ sociopathic, totalitarian leader brutally killed Maggie’s husband, Glenn (Steve Yeun), in an unbelievably tense and amazing moment of the show.
Negan’s character had just made his series debut in the final episode of season six titled Last Day On Earth.
Glenn’s violent murder occurred in the season seven premiere, The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be, just after the group had headed to the Hilltop to seek help for Maggie, who is the eldest daughter of Hershel (Scott Wilson); both were introduced near the beginning of the second season of TWD.
Along with the two TWD remnants, Dead City also stars Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Jonathan Higginbotham, Mahina Napoleon, Trey Santiago-Hudson, Charlie Soli, and Michael Anthony,
During a panel, Cohan, 41, opened up about how the awesome team between Negan and Maggie came to be.
“It’s interesting because we see a level of raw trauma that we know happened between Maggie and Negan. In Dead City, we really have an opportunity to (ask), ‘What is this? What does it take to get through it?” the New Jersey native said, adding: “And more than anything, it’s an opportunity for us to be forced together on this mission. The tension and immovable things are still very present.’
The stakes: Negan and Maggie lead the new cast as they travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that’s been cut off from the mainland in search of Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel.
Walkers Descend on the City: As the zombie apocalypse rages, the ruined city fills with “the dead and the denizens who have made New York City their own world of lawlessness, danger, beauty, and terror” .
The Cast: Along with the two TWD holdovers, Dead City also stars Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Jonathan Higginbotham, Mahina Napoleon, Trey Santiago-Hudson, Charlie Soli, and Michael Anthony.
Violent Introduction: Stanton’s Negan made his TWD debut in the season six finale, where he would eventually alter Maggie’s life forever as the Saviors’ sociopathic leader.
Fight for survival: Maggie will have to find a way to accept her history with Negan if she wants to survive in Manhattan and find her son.
The spinoff’s new showrunner shared some of the elements that bring a fresh new perspective to the storytelling.
It’s The Walking Dead as we’ve never seen it before. We haven’t really lived in a city like this’, revealed Jorné in statements collected by Deadline. ‘It’s New York; there are sky-high skyscrapers and a million and a half walkers.
He added: “And for characters like Maggie and Negan, who have been running through the woods for a long time, it’s a whole new world that’s extremely claustrophobic, scary, and also, as you’ll find out, has pockets of survivors, you’ll be able to see all the new and strange ways they live in the apocalypse, definitely not like anything you’ve seen before.
The other two new spin-offs involving characters from the original show are The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, starring Norman Redus as the title character, and an untitled series with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Deadly Story: Maggie and Negan hit each other’s heads in the later seasons of TWD; now they team up for an adventure in a zombie-infested Manhattan
