“But Sir Tom’s voice… Tom Jones is a legend! He has an incredible voice!”

“I say it every year… Sir Tom is still like that, he’s incredible live too. What a voice!”

And it wasn’t just viewers at home who enjoyed his impromptu performance.

Audience members were also clearly moved as the two sang while sitting across from each other.

The ITV talent show judges were also moved by Will.i.am, 49, who looked serious as he looked at the two music legends.

McFly duo Tom Fletcher, 39, and Danny Jones, 38, also appeared to appreciate the song as Danny rested his head on his arm to get a better view of the performance and Tom appeared to have tears in his eyes.

Viewers’ praise for Tom’s perfect voice comes as the singing legend revealed he began sleeping with tape over his mouth to protect his voice.

Speaking to The Mail, she said: “I’m in good health, it’s necessary. I sleep on my side, but I tape my mouth shut.”

“Now that I’m older I don’t have to look good in bed anymore, but sometimes I get up to go to the bathroom and I get scared.”

The Voice coach also criticised the way the Britain’s Got Talent judge treats contestants, telling MailOnline: “Well, those sorts of talent shows take it too far. Simon Cowell has done it.”

‘You know, like, “Why are you on this show? What makes you think you can sing? Who told you you can sing?” I mean… Jesus.

“The difference between The Voice and other talent shows is that they can sing. They’ve gotten rid of those who can’t sing before the first auditions.”

Tom also revealed that his close friend Olly Murs was “really upset” to no longer be on the show after he was axed after six years.

At the time, Olly revealed that his exit was not amicable, as it was thought the decision stemmed from producers wanting to attract a younger audience by hiring new judges.

Tom said: ‘We’ve both been on tour, but when it happened we talked quite a bit. He didn’t want to leave, he loved doing the show.

“He was very upset, he didn’t like it. He’s married now and has a child, so his life has changed. But he was definitely upset.”

The Voice airs on Saturdays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
