The Voice star Michael Stangl has revealed the symptoms he experienced before he was diagnosed with cancer.

The musician competed on the second season of The Voice in 2013 when he was diagnosed with myxomatosis and given Only three months to live.

After telling the doctors to remove his myxoma, Michael began to get excruciating headaches that sounded like “a sledgehammer hitting my head”.

“At that point, if they continued to grow at the rate they were, I wouldn’t make it too tall.”

After appearing on The Voice, the remaining tumor in Michael’s brain stops growing rapidly.

He said he decided to leave the tumor behind and not have surgery after doctors warned it would mean he would lose movement on the right side of his body.

Michael is now a motivational speaker and continues to focus on his career in the entertainment industry.

While auditioning on The Voice back in 2013, Michael impressed the judges with his performance of Ian Moss and Cold Chisel’s Bow River.

He has since written songs for Australian artists including Shannon Noll, The Veronicas and Dean Geyer.
