No more yelling for Whoopi! The View adds coasters under cups on panelists’ desk after co-hosts say they made ‘farting’ noises on air
- The hosts of The View have previously been blamed for farting on stage on air
- But the hosts said the farts came from their moving cups on the table
- Sources said coasters were added to the table top to stop the wind noise
The View added coasters to the co-hosts’ table after they blamed the scraping of their cups moving across the table top on a recent flurry of fart sounds heard on air.
Sources told Entertainment Weekly that the newly appeared coasters were added with the express purpose of eliminating bloated voices that were blamed by the various cast members.
Previously, fingers were pointed at Whoopi Goldberg prominently for the loud noises heard by hosts, studio, and audience members at home alike.
After one incident, Whoopi admitted to gassing the air, but later said she only did so to defuse the situation.
But after releasing another fart on the March 21 episode of The View, the hosts paused to twist their glasses back and forth and show us where the sounds came from, as Goldberg puts it. “We blame it on dropping gas.”

In previous episodes of The View there were no cups under the hosts’ coffee mugs
On that March episode, where discussion was interrupted by a fart at the exact moment host Sarah Haines moved her cup.
“It’s glassy, every time I turn,” Haines said as the hosts looked around at the source of the sound.
Apparently, host Joy Behar had had enough of the constant media speculation about who the show’s frequent showrunner was, and stepped in to explain what was going on.
‘Let’s put this rumor to rest,’ said Behar as Haines moved her mug back and forth. “That sound you hear, that’s a cup, okay?”
Whoopi jumped in support of Behar and lamented that they had always been accused of farting “when in fact it is a teacup”.
Just a week before this incident, another fart sound rocked the stage, but that Whoopi took the blame, saying “that was gas.”

Then, weeks prior to this incident, during the January episode, a loud cartoon fart rang out onto the show’s stage, apparently from the direction of Whoopi and Haynes.
It was such a loud trumpet blaring that Farah Griffin stopped mid-sentence and had to collect herself before continuing.
Suspicion turned Whoopi’s way, as she was previously involved in an on-air parcel in 2014, which became known as Fartgate.
In that incident, Goldberg rose from her seat and said, “Excuse me! Oooh, oh, after an audible outburst.” She later denied responsibility and insisted she was only to blame for the time being to mitigate the situation.
“I’m thinking, ‘Damn, this is weird, what can I do?'” “Oh I know! I’ll pretend I left something a little off.” As a joke, the award-winning actress said.
