Alexis Callen, 19 (photo), from Murray, Utah, has been accused of torturing a companion animal after admitting her mouth to seal her puppy, causing serious injury

A Utah woman is confronted with a torture indictment after admitting that she had tied up her puppy's mouth, severely deforming her snout.

Alexis Callen, 19, from Murray admitted to the police that she tied the muzzle of Shadow, a Black Labrador Retriever-German Shepherd Mix, for two days, but West Jordan Animal Shelter veterinarians believe Callen's puppy mouth for more than two had been tied up for weeks.

The shadow is expected to fully recover from her injuries, but she needs approximately $ 2,000 in reconstructive surgery to properly eat and drink.

Callen originally accused the injuries of a caregiver, but later said she had done it herself.

Celestial Zoo is now looking for donations to help pay for Shadow's medical needs.

Shadow needs urgent medical attention because the left side of her snout is cut so deep that you can see her in her mouth, even when her jaw is closed.

Damage injuries were discovered by Celestial Zoo, a Utah County cat and dog rescue, after Callen posted to relocate her dog because she could not pay for her treatment.

Celestial Zoo shared a screenshot of Callen & # 39; s message, which included a photo of Shadow in a cage that appeared to be wet, with the rough injury visible on its muzzle.

The shadow is expected to fully recover from her injuries, but she needs approximately $ 2,000 in reconstructive surgery to properly eat and drink.

& # 39; My puppy was badly injured and I don't have the cost to pay for her to go to the vet to get stitches, so I'm here to relocate her & # 39 ;, read Callen & # 39; s message.

& # 39; She is a German Shepherd Mix Lab. Pm me for info, also anyone who bashes on me will be blocked from talking to me. & # 39;

In a separate conversation that also shared Celestial Zoo that appeared to appear in the post comments, Callen blames the damage to a dog sitter, although her name is covered in the screenshot.

& # 39; I had to make an emergency trip to see my family, so I had someone in my complex look at her & # 39 ;, the comment said.

& # 39; When I returned, her muzzle was tied and swollen, I tried to do what I could to help her, but I don't have the cost to pay for her to get stitches or heal well. & # 39 ;

Callen added, & # 39; it wasn't even a muzzle they used, they said they did it because they didn't stop whining. & # 39;

Authorities told Fox news that Callen later admitted that she had put a headband around Shadow & muzzle and claimed that she had done that for two days.

On Tueday, Celestial Zoo gave an update on the condition of Shadow's snout injury.

& # 39; The vet has viewed and cleaned it. She gave her some antibiotics and pain medication, & the rescue group wrote.

& # 39; The left side is already separated and needs surgery. The right side is also possible. It looks like a rubber band or tie to be the muzzle that caused it for a week or two. She needs to be seen again in a few days, and then we'll see what to do for surgery. & # 39;

Celestial Zoo shared the news about the arrest of Callen later on Tuesday, after Shadow had received more preparatory care.

& # 39; Shadow had to go back to the vet today for a cone, but even though she is not happy with her cone, she is happy to report that thanks to the rapid action of the Murray Animal Control officers an arrest has been made on crime animal abuse, & the group wrote.

& # 39; We are very happy with the quick action and hope that justice will be found. She still has a long way and operations for her, but she is expected to fully recover. & # 39;

On Friday, Celestial Zoo announced on Facebook that Shadow's operation was planned.

& # 39; She will be operated on at Blue Pearl, where she will repair the damage to her snout. It is estimated that a recovery time of 2 weeks will be needed, whereby she only needs soft food and no chew toys, which will be so difficult for a puppy! & # 39; the rescue group wrote.

& # 39; Her operation is estimated between $ 1700-1900, depending on how much they have to do when they get in there. Donations can be collected under Shadow with Celestial Zoo at 801-871-0600 or on our paypal at celestialzooutah@gmail.com or here. We appreciate all support! & # 39;
