‘Arsenal had a great season – it’s just too much for them’: Gary Neville insists ‘the title race is OVER’ after the Gunners’ 3-0 loss to Brighton, saying Southampton and West Ham ‘ just hurt them too much”
- Arsenal lost 3-0 to Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday night
- Manchester City overtook Everton just before the game at the Emirates
- City only need one more win to wrap up the title for another season
Gary Neville says any hope Arsenal had of winning the title is well and truly over after Mikel Arteta’s side were blown away by Brighton at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners had seen Manchester City easily overcome a tricky game at Everton before kick-off.
And Brighton continued to do light work of the London club with an emphatic 3-0 win that left City needing just one win to wrap things up.
Speaking after the match, Neville said: “Manchester City had an amazing run, winning 11 points on the rebound, but Arsenal lost 12 points in the last seven games against teams they shouldn’t have made. .”
“Southampton and West Ham One have hurt them too much and today they have just been upgraded.
Gary Neville thinks title race is now completely over after Arsenal’s loss to Brighton

The Gunners were well beaten by Brighton after seeing Man City win another game
‘That’s it. The title is won Arsenal had a very good season. An excellent season. It’s just too much for them.
“Manchester City going to Goodison Park was emphatic earlier today. It was a potentially reserved banana peel. And maybe that just rattled Arsenal’s pre-game mood as they faced an awkward opponent.
“But I have to say the Brighton Performance was out of this world. Watch this coaching staff celebrate. Absolutely stunning. They’ve been outstanding all season, but that’s just the icing on the cake for them.
‘To embody all that they have been. Arsenal for much of this season have been the best team in the country and they have absolutely taken them to the cleaners.
Roy Keane was full of praise for Brighton and thought Arsenal had just run out of steam.
“As bad as Arsenal are, we have to give Brighton credit,” he said.

Roy Keane praised Mikel Arteta’s side for a good season but thought they had run out of steam
‘They were exceptional. They looked physically strong, they were ready for battle, they made their tackles, had runners and had quality and Arsenal looked like they had run out of steam.
“Physically, mentally – considering they’re not in any other competition, they look like they’ve just come out of a European game.” They just looked long, out of ideas and the team was obviously short. But we can’t be too hard on Arsenal because it’s been a very good season, but today nowhere near good enough. Just short and physically they really looked out of it.
