A three-year-old South Carolina boy died after officials said he accidentally shot himself in the head of his family.
Delegates from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Wyndham Pointe Apartments on Brighton Hill Road in Columbia at around 6:00 PM for a report of a shooting.
By the time they arrived, the toddler’s family had already rushed him to the hospital.

A three-year-old boy fatally shot himself in the head at his parents’ house on Brighton Hill Road in Columbia, South Carolina, Wednesday
Police officers were told by a witness that the boy had accidentally fired a gun, the bullet hitting him in the head, WISTV reported.
The child was pronounced dead in the hospital an hour after the incident.
The boy has not been identified by the authorities.
It is currently unknown how the boy could gain access to the loaded firearm used in the shooting.

Since Thursday morning, no one has been arrested or charged with the boy’s death, but officials are still investigating, according to WLTX.
