Happy truck driver! Moment a trailer bounces off the wall of a narrow bridge and plunges nearly 20 feet into the creek below

  • A motorist filmed landscapes after they were diverted from the highway
  • They followed a truck with a 40-foot trailer outside of Caryville, Tennessee
  • The trailer of the truck bounced off a two-foot wall on a narrow bridge over a creek

This is the shocking moment when a truck driver nearly lost his 40ft trailer while driving across a narrow Tennessee bridge.

A motorist was filming the scenery around Caryville, just north of Knoxville, when they caught the truck trying to cross the stone bridge over the old state highway.

The truck driver drove to the far left of the road, trying to get his vehicle safely over the bridge, but he misunderstood the trailer’s path.

As the trailer’s rear wheels rolled onto the bridge, the camber and angle swing the unit sideways.

The rear wheels come off the road and bounce off the low stone wall.

Fortunately for the driver, the trailer fell over the edge into the stream no more than 6 meters below the road.

The truck driver stopped almost immediately and paused before continuing his journey. He did not get out of the cabin to inspect any damage to his unit or the bridge.

The filmmaker said the incident took place on April 29 on old state highway 63.

They added: ‘This happened shortly after 5:30 pm on a road trip when traffic reversed on the highway and the GPS turned us around to old state 63.

‘We followed the road half way in front, I was just taking videos of the landscape when it happened during my recording.’
