A teenager who survived a horror car accident in which four of her friends died, was the only one wearing a seat belt when their vehicle hit a tree.

The police say that she survived the crash because she was wearing her seat belt.

She was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed that she had a broken leg during the crash and is expected to fully recover.

Her four friends were all killed in the crash.

Driver Rebecca Earner (16) and the other passengers Ambra Eddleton (16), Justin Carpenter (14) and Kyrstin Wolfanger (14) all died on the spot.

All five teenagers lived in Dansville, about 10 miles from where the crash occurred.

Police said they believed the driver did not stop at a T-junction at County Route 13C and County Route 13.
