Florida has some of the rudest cities in the United States, surpassing larger metropolitan areas traditionally known for their nastiness, according to a new study.
Miami was ranked the roughest in the United States this year, according to the results of a language tutoring company Get readywith Tampa in third place.
Cities were evaluated based on the number of people who reported experiencing specific rude behavior from others.
Miami, for example, got its poor rating because locals lack self-awareness in public, are loud in shared spaces and treat service workers poorly, according to the study.
Miami residents surveyed gave their neighbors a near-perfect rudeness score of 9.88 out of 10.

Irritating phone use in public, including talking on speakerphone or ignoring surroundings while looking at the phone, was one of the most common rude behaviors cited.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, ranked second on the list after taking first place in Preply’s inaugural survey in 2022. This year, its residents scored 9.12 out of 10.
Rounding out the top five were Louisville, Kentucky and Oakland, California.
To determine the rankings, Preply asked residents in 46 cities about the “social behaviors they noticed.”
Some of the most commonly observed behaviors included talking on the speaker in a shared space, watching videos or listening to music loudly in public, and being engrossed in the phone and not recognizing others around them.
Nearly 9 in 10 of those surveyed said they had seen people doing these things in their city.
Another common cause for concern was people who let their phone continue ringing without silencing it.
More than 85 percent of respondents said that residents in their city often do not respect others’ personal space or have hygiene problems.
Rude driving was also a top complaint, with residents citing motorists who speed in a closed lane to merge closer to the front, ignore basic rules of the road, and fail to slow down or be cautious around pedestrians. .

Philadelphia, which ranked first in Preply’s 2022 survey, fell to second place this year.
Tampa came in third, giving Florida two cities in the top three.
The survey also took politics into account, with 1 in 2 Americans believing their city has become ruder ahead of the November election.
Nearly a quarter of Americans have thought about moving because of their neighbors’ bad manners, the study found.
Respondents also gave insight into how they deal with rudeness.
More than 88 percent of respondents said they choose to ignore it, while more than 50 percent said they abandon it. Only 11 percent choose to confront the rude behavior.
The older people are, the more likely they are to consider the new residents of their cities rude. According to Preply, transplants are seen as ruder by both the transplants themselves and the native residents.
The survey also ranked the least rude cities, with Omaha, Nebraska, topping the list.
Omaha was followed by Minneapolis, Minnesota, and San Diego, California.

Some cities managed to become friendlier over the two years between the Preply surveys.
Washington DC, Detroit, Michigan; San Jose, California; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were among the most improved.
The country’s largest cities (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago) were in the middle of the pack when it came to the rudeness of their residents.
The survey revealed that Americans are frustrated with the poor and sometimes dangerous driving habits of their fellow citizens.
Respondents had a lot to say about aggressive or rude drivers.
More than 70 percent saw drivers speeding in a closed lane to merge closer to the front, while more than 64 percent say they saw drivers ignoring basic rules of the road.
