MADRID (AP) – Real Madrid, Karim Benzema's striker had to be replaced during the rest of Sunday's Spanish league game against Real Betis after an injury to his right hand.

Madrid coach Santiago Solari said that Benzema had broken his hand.

"He was in a lot of pain," Solari said.

Madrid was already without damage by Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Benzema had to be attended by team doctors when he fell with a Betis defender in the first resting time after a brush.

He was replaced during the break by reserve player Cristo Gonzalez.
