Nuts for that! The stealing squirrel finds the perfect way to defeat the bird feeder – just jump over it
- Crafty squirrel filmed jumping over the protector in an English garden
- The threat from the countryside was also shown to terrorize birds moments in advance
- Tuinman said that he had been at war for a year with the squirrel over the nuts
A cunning squirrel has discovered that he can steal the nuts of the garden birds by simply jumping over a bird feeder.
Terrifying images, filmed on a mobile phone, show how the nut lover launches himself from the ground and jumps over the plastic shield in an English country garden before sniffing at nuts.
The threat in the countryside is also shown by terrorizing local birds while trying to figure out how to get to the bird feeder.
Squirrel versus bird feeder: a squirrel has thwarted a nut feeder in an English country garden by jumping over it
The video starts with the gray squirrel scrambling through the pole and holding the nuts before it falls down when it hits the plastic protector.
In order not to be disturbed, he must try again before he discovers that he can bypass the obstacle by jumping off the ground.
A second clip then shows the squirrel who jumps past the protector and climbs to the top of the pole before he grabs the nuts. A green just above the three bird feeders is there to disturb parakeets.
This is Money editor Richard Browning who has filmed the devastating actions of the squirrel. “I’ve been at war with this squirrel for at least a year,” he said. “I thought I won … but I filmed this last week.”
Gardeners are also known to use metal cages and pet cats in a desperate attempt to keep squirrels out of their bird feeders.
