Netflix has confirmed that the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge will be available on the network in November.
revealed a report from NME The upcoming reality show based on the popular Netflix series Squid Game will give 456 people a chance to win a $4.56 million prize, but it did not reveal the exact day of the show.
“The worst fate is going home empty-handed,” Netflix said when the show was announced, explaining that the reality show won’t be as strong as the original series… yet the competitors will be faced with a series of cruel children’s games, just like the original series.
On the other hand, Squid Game: The Challenge already witnessed some controversy during filming, after a report alleged inhumane conditions for the competitors.
While filming in a former hangar outside London, contestants faced freezing temperatures and exhaustion after being woken up at 3:30am. They were in standby mode for nine hours, immobile for long periods of time due to the specific game they were playing.
Other reports claimed that at least 10 contestants collapsed during filming, while contestants claimed they were injured shortly after filming began. Ambulances were called to the set repeatedly, with one contestant referring to the show as a “war zone”.
Squid Game: The Challenge will feature multiple games spanning 10 episodes, with a series of challenges inspired by the original series as well as some surprising new additions.
