A New York City couple filed a lawsuit against a Koreatown restaurant alleging they found a dead rat floating in their soup while eating takeout.

The series of viral photos posted by Eunice Lucero-Lee showed the rodent floating on top of the bin while entangled in what appeared to be vegetables from the Gammeeok restaurant.

Lucero-Lee and her husband have been ordering from the Manhattan restaurant for more than a decade and have had no issues with unwanted ingredients until this weekend.

“We ordered sogogi gukbap, which is some kind of hearty Korean beef soup,” Lucero-Lee said. Information blackout.

“If there was such a big mouse, I wouldn’t have missed it,” Gammeeok wrote in an Instagram post along with kitchen surveillance video showing workers preparing the soup.

“We reviewed the entire process of making the soup, but we could not find any problems,” they added.

The restaurant criticized the couple, citing their Yelp account, which they allege is another complaint against a restaurant made in 2016 when they found a “big bug” in their soup.

“It’s a rare experience for most people in their entire lives,” the restaurant wrote. ‘It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing for most people.’

When Gammeeok first received Lucero-Lee’s complaint, they reportedly offered the couple a refund and a “$100 gift card in the spirit of always dealing with customer complaints by keeping a low profile.”

But, the restaurant alleged that the couple demanded $5,000 and that they pay the hospital bill. They added that the requested money later went up to $25,000.

“After that we said we couldn’t afford it so we said we were going to hire a lawyer to take action,” the restaurant wrote.

Despite Gammeeok’s rejection, Lucero-Lee urged people to avoid the restaurant at all costs.

“Please never go there for your own safety,” Lucero-Lee warned on Instagram.

Several of the violations showed that the restaurant lacked proper sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness protocols.

One violation listed a health concern of ‘Dirt or Food/Garbage/Sewage Flies Associated With (FRSA) Flies or Other Nuisance Pests in Food and/or Non-Food Areas of the Establishment’.

“FRSA flies include house flies, house flies, bottle flies, meat flies, drain flies, Phorid flies, and fruit flies,” the violation stated.

Aside from the poor ‘C’ review rating, the restaurant seems to have a number of fans on Yelp, who rave about their food being perfect for a ‘night out’.
