A sinister door knocker who confessed: ‘I’m wanted for murder’ is a convicted criminal who was being hunted by police, MailOnline can reveal.
The terrifying moment was captured by a Ring video doorbell at a home in Baildon, West Yorkshire, last month.
The disheveled man was filmed face to face with a stunned homeowner, making his macabre admission.
Now MailOnline can reveal the uninvited guest is Alistair Houldsworth, 37, a failed professional golfer turned sexual predator.
Houldsworth, who has a catalog of previous convictions to his name, was arrested shortly after being filmed saying: “Hello…I’m wanted for murder.”
However, he was not arrested in connection with an unlawful homicide, but for violating a restraining order.
Houldsworth was due to appear before Bradford magistrates for sentencing last month.
But the case was postponed when it emerged that he was in prison for an unrelated matter.
Alistair Houldsworth, 37, has been revealed as the sinister door knocker who was caught on Ring doorbell footage telling a shocked homeowner: “I’m wanted for murder.”
Houldsworth turned up on a homeowner’s front door in Baildon, West Yorkshire.
The owner hurriedly closed the door and said to Houldsworth, “You better go.”
In the brief exchange, revealed exclusively last month, Houldsworth anxiously called seven times before declaring: “Hello…I’m wanted for murder.”
When asked to repeat himself, he replied: “I’m wanted for murder, yes.”
The owner rushed to close the door and told Houldsworth “you better go”, who pleaded with him to “listen, listen, listen” before staggering away.
Houldworth was jailed for 19 months in 2020 after sexually assaulting a young woman and racially abusing a police officer.
A court found he was drunk and high on cocaine when he reached up the woman’s skirt.
In the same dark episode, Houldsworth also assaulted a 16-year-old girl and a student.
He attempted to kiss the girl and grabbed the male victim’s butt as he stumbled and slurred his words.
He kicked a police officer in the thigh and shouted a series of insults at his colleagues, calling them nonces and “Jimmy Saviles”.
Bradford Crown Court was told Houldsworth could have been a successful golfer only if the failure of his career triggered mental health problems.
The mysterious encounter was captured by the homeowner’s Ring doorbell camera (right).
Houldsworth was later seen wandering the street and was arrested shortly after.
We can reveal that he also has previous convictions for sending offensive communications, public order offences, assault, common assault, threatening behavior and assaulting an emergency worker.
The gas engineer, 32, who answered Houldsworth’s door, said: ‘As soon as I looked at him I realized he wasn’t safe.
“He was mumbling his words and said, ‘I’m wanted for murder.’
“I couldn’t believe what he said, so I asked him to repeat what he said and he said the same thing again.
“I looked him up and down, told him to leave and closed the door on him.
“I went back inside, looked out the window and saw him staggering down the street.
‘I found it strange, not intimidating. But if it had been an older person or a woman, they probably would have been terrified.
‘God knows what his intentions were. To be honest, I wasn’t going to keep him from discovering them.
Recalling the incident, the man, who asked not to be named, added: “His opening line ‘I’m wanted for murder’ is not something I thought I’d hear when I opened the front door.”
Houldsworth, who lives in a probation hostel in Bradford, will be sentenced in January for violating a restraining order.
