I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australian co-host Robert Irwin has won over viewers with his energy and enthusiasm, but has a surprising “disdain” for his role.

The 20-year-old celebrity conservationist, who took over the hosting role from Dr Chris Brown earlier this year, is said to dislike having to read his lines off a teleprompter and prefers to improvise.

“It’s not his favorite part of the job. If we can get him to improvise more, he’ll seem more relaxed on camera,” a source told Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘He hates teleprompter work and would like to be more improvisational, which suits his style. When given the opportunity to speak, he simply fills the space.

“It’s understandable, as much of his previous work has been largely improvised. Especially his work at Australia Zoo. He can hold an audience for hours and genuinely engages with his passion for animals.”

They added that Robert’s natural charm and enthusiasm were best displayed when he could speak for himself, rather than following a pre-written script.

“We all have an enemy at work and the people we see on the TV screen are no different. He really shines when he’s in his lane,” the source continued.

Separately, another industry source said Robert was “having some difficulty” reading the teleprompter at the Logie Awards in Sydney on Sunday.

In June, sources told Daily Mail Australia that the famous conservationist was expected to be joined by his mother and Irwin family matriarch Terri, despite recent backlash from fans who think the pair are “joined at the hip.”
