REVEALED: The secret message hidden in the Baskin Robbins ice cream logo – but can you guess what it means?
- Baskin Robbins among brands with hidden message in their iconic logos
- The meaning dates back to the creation of the brand in the 1940s
Baskin Robbins has been an ice cream lover’s favorite for decades, but it’s only now that people are noticing a secret hidden in the brand’s iconic logo.
Burt Baskin and his brother-in-law Irv Robbins both operated ice cream shops in the 1940s before merging them to form Baskin Robbins in 1953.
Their store offered a rare range of different flavors for the time, 31 in total, so customers could try a new ice cream for each day of the month if they wished.
This exciting diversity became their selling point and the pair were keen to market it in their logo.

The original brand therefore placed the number 31 in a pink circle above the “Baskin Robbins Ice Cream” lettering in brown.
The logo was revamped in 1991 which placed the 31 between the names “Baskin” and Robbins and the color scheme was changed to blue and pink.
It was later upgraded again in 2006, with a more camouflaged 31 being part of the ‘B’ and ‘R’.
The logo was changed again as recently as 2022, keeping the 31 hidden but returning to the traditional brown and pink colors.
Baskin Robins has now created over 1000 flavors of ice cream, but maintains all 31 as part of the company’s roots.
