A housewife has revealed the secret ingredient she uses to keep her dishwasher sparkling clean.
Carolina McCauley, a mother from Perth, said she uses citric acid to clean her dishwasher.
“Is your dishwasher a little dirty?” she wrote in the caption showing her “dirty” dishwasher.

She then showed how she cleans the machine with two teaspoons of citric acid.
The mother simply adds the ingredient to the detergent dispenser, closes the door and runs a quick wash cycle while it is empty.
“Wow, it’s so clean,” she said, showing the newly twinkling device.
“You’ll be amazed at the difference.”
And others were quick to agree with the method.
“Citric acid is the main ingredient in most dishwasher cleaners,” explains one man.
Others said citric acid can be replaced with vinegar and baking soda for a similar result.
“Baking soda, yes. I do this regularly. I also like to add vinegar. Leaves no odor and really cleans the dishwasher. Better yet, it takes away the weird smell that a dishwasher can sometimes have,” said one mother.

Some were confused about the ingredient.
‘Where do you buy citric acid, I never have head or it,’ complained one man.
Some people thanked the mother for the helpful tip.
“Oh, this is great, I’ll try it next time, thank you very much,” said one woman.
And then she showed off the incredible result – her dishwasher seemed to be sparkling clean
“What a handy tip, thanks for sharing,” said another.
Others said he should be able to find it in the baking section of every supermarket.
The video was seen by more than 136,000 people in less than 24 hours and attracted more than 3,800 likes.
Carolina has more than 465,000 followers on the social media platform where she posts household tips.
