Mr Purchase said that despite the swell not being ‘too bad’, the recent rainfall meant that crews struggled with poor visibility in the water, the Courier mail reported.

“On behalf of Surf Lifesaving Queensland, our condolences go out to his family and friends, it is tragic at any time of the year, let alone on the eve of Easter,” said Mr Purchase.

“Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”
