An Oklahoma City Thunder fan left the Paycom Center with $20,000 after hitting a half-court shot Wednesday night.

During the Thunder’s game against the Utah Jazz, 18-year-old Cody Hoover was selected to go for the big shot, courtesy of MidFirst Bank.

Hoover walked onto center field wearing a white Thunder jersey. The crowd cheered for the teen as Oklahoma City mascot Rumble grabbed him by the head to wish him luck.

As the drum roll began, Hoover dribbled and took a few steps toward center field before stopping to shoot. The ball kissed the glass before entering the hoop as the Oklahoma City crowd erupted in cheers.

Hoover celebrated with the Storm Chasers by the OKC logo as he received his huge check. Arena emcee Malcolm Tubbs noted that Hoover was the first fan to convert a half-court shot this season.

A native of Mount Vernon, Arkansas, Hoover’s basketball prowess is usually on display when he plays for the Mount Vernon Enola High School varsity team.

According to his HUDL page, Hoover is 5 feet ten inches tall and 160 pounds, belonging to the Class of 2024. His profile does not list his position.

Hoover’s highlights, however, show that he plays an important role for the Warhawks. In February of last year, he recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds against Guy Perkins. He also recorded four three-pointers against Nemo Vista and six against Sacred Heart Catholic School a few games later.

After Hoover made his $20,000 shot, the Thunder took a 119-107 victory over the Jazz. Rookie Chet Holmgren led OKC with 35 points and 14 rebounds, while MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recorded 31 points and seven assists.

The Thunder remain on top of the Western Conference with a 48-20 record after winning their last three games.
