Debutante balls are often associated with poise and elegance.
But Le Bal des Débutantes seemed to have a rebellious streak with photos appearing of the children of the rich and famous consuming alcohol and cigarettes.
The annual ball, which has been attended by a number of celebrities and nepo babies over the years, was held Saturday at the luxurious $1,000-a-night Shangri-La Hotel in Paris, France.
And in the days since the glamorous event took place, many of the elite attendees have shared glimpses of what really happened at the prestigious party on their social media accounts.
Footage shows that behind closed doors, what was billed as a charity event to introduce young women from some of the world’s most prominent families to society, was much less formal than previously thought.
Model Lara Cosima von Donnersmarck posted a carousel of photos on Instagram showing her and her friends, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s stunning model daughter Apple Martin, partying the night away.
Lara, sister of Apple’s Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck, shared snaps showing them holding glasses of champagne and lighting cigarettes.
Another attendee and previous debutante, Skye Wong, uploaded a snap of a table covered in what appeared to be alcoholic beverages.

“It seems like Apple is eager to get in front of the lenses,” Judi commented.
“She seems to outshine the first woman by stepping forward and showing off for the cameras, striking some more dramatic poses that suggest she is anything but shy and introverted.
‘Given her more private years growing up, Apple really seems to have burst onto the scene here with body language that seems so confident that it leaves her (own) mother looking quite shy in front of the camera next to her.
“This looks a lot like the Apple Show, and the photos that emerge suggest a fun, formal birthday party rather than a launch for a whole group of young people.”
He added: “If this ‘coming out’ ritual is meant to mimic the aristocratic debutante balls of the last century, Miss Apple might need to remember that queue-jumping, upstaging and adopting anything but a demure and elegant pose would have been severely frowned upon.
‘Apple’s body language rituals at this event seem to vary between acting like a Downton Abbey debutante complete with bowing and allowing her hand to be transferred from her father’s grasp to her young man’s with an air of Victorian formality to work the pose for the cameras like a social media selfie queen.
