The woman who was married to the real-life Wolf of Wall Street has revealed that a rather bizarre detail from the hit 2013 film about her relationship was completely true – ten years after Margot Robbie portrayed the unique habit on the big screen.
Nadine Macaluso, 55, who now works as a marriage counselor and family therapist in California, met Jordan Belfort, 61, when she was just 22 and working as a model.
The two quickly plunged into a whirlwind romance, marrying in 1991 and welcoming two children together, before finally divorcing in 2005 after 14 years of marriage.
The model-turned-therapist has become a viral TikTok star in recent months for revealing numerous secrets about their marriage – and revealing which scenes from the Martin Scorsese film were accurate and which were exaggerated for the sake of views.

Her TikTok video begins by showing Margot Robbie as Nadine, who was renamed Naomi for the film, and Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort sitting at a table for two in a crowded restaurant.
Robbie raises his hand to catch the waiter’s attention before asking, “Can I have a straw please?”
The duo continue their flirtatious chat as the blonde bombshell asks why he would ask for her number if he’s already married.
She casually places her straw in his wine glass as he responds, “What? Married people can’t have friends?
Both continue with the superimposed text: “The funny truth about this scene that you might not expect me to say.”
The clip then cuts to Nadine as she speaks directly to the camera to reveal: ‘In truth, I really do drink red wine through a straw.
“I don’t want to damage my veneers and it works. This keeps them white.

Nadine was married to Belfort for more than a decade but, after they parted ways, she accused the financial scammer of physical and mental abuse, which she said was fueled by his rampant drug addiction and multiple infidelities .
Their tumultuous relationship – as well as Jordan’s illicit stock market scheme, which saw him steal nearly $200 million from investors – was depicted in the wildly popular 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street.
The mother-of-two recently revealed she was “mortified” when she found out they were making the film about her and Belfort because she was convinced it would ruin her career as a therapist.
“When I first heard that they were going to make The Wolf of Wall Street – I think it was around 2011-2012 – needless to say, I was mortified,” she said. admitted.
“I had already experienced this whole Greek tragedy and then it was going to go around the world. My trauma for the whole world to see.
“And it was doubly traumatic because I was getting my doctorate in psychology, so I was like, ‘Who the hell is going to want to see me as a therapist?’
Nadine added that she was angry at the film because it wasn’t her “story” and she wouldn’t get paid for it – but ultimately it actually helped her career.
“I was bored, it wasn’t my story, I wasn’t making any money, I had no creative input but all of a sudden I realized this was going to happen and it was more taller than me,” she said.

The relationship was depicted in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan and Margot Robbie as Nadine, who was renamed Naomi for the film.
“And, ironically, what happened in my therapy practice, people said to me, ‘Wait, I want to come to you as a therapist because you went through this and you got here and this is the life you lead, you walk your path. talk.” In the end, everything went well.

Nadine has since remarried and is with her new husband John Macaluso, who has three children from a previous relationship.
In another TikTok, Nadine confirmed that she and Belfort were “still friends” and focused on co-parenting their two children.
“We’re both strong personalities, but at the end of the day, we both love our kids and he gets along really well with my (new) husband,” she revealed.
