Gwyneth Paltrow has cut back on her acting gig due to a “deep passion” for growing her multi-million dollar Goop empire.
But it is her daughter’s own enthusiasm, specifically for Timothée Chalamet, that has convinced her mother to return to the big screen for the first time in five years.
Paltrow, 51, will star alongside Dune actor, 28, in Marty Supreme, an upcoming film inspired by the life of Marty Reisman and the world of professional ping-pong players.
Despite not having any “great desire” to act, Paltrow was reportedly “convinced” to say yes to the offer after her 20-year-old daughter Apple learned that Chalamet would not only produce, but also play the lead role.
“Gwyneth signed on to co-star alongside Timothee in Marty Supreme thanks to her daughter, who has had a crush on the Dune star for years,” a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘As soon as Gwyneth told Apple that Timothee was not only a producer but also a lead actor, she begged her mother to accept.
‘After reading it and loving it, despite not having any great desire to act at the moment, he let himself be convinced by Apple, who intends to be on the set as much as possible.’
Plot details have yet to be revealed, but the film, produced by A24, will be “a fictional original film, rather than a biopic,” according to Deadline, and Chalamet’s character will be inspired by Reisman, one of the most prominent American table tennis players of all time.
The New Yorker, known as “The Needle,” won more than 22 major table tennis titles between 1946 and 2002, after taking up the sport as a child on the Lower East Side and struggling to make money during his early years.
He and his doubles partner, Douglas Cartland, later became the opening act for the Harlem Globetrotters, performing a table tennis comedy routine involving frying pans.
His autobiography – The Money Player, The Confessions of America’s Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler – was published in 1974.
Reisman, who once described his career as “a fun way to spend your life,” died in 2012 at age 82.
Paltrow, who has Apple and 18-year-old son Moses with ex-husband Chris Martin, will star alongside Chalamet in the upcoming film directed by Josh Safdie. Her role has not been specified.

But her last major big-screen appearance was in Marvel’s 2019 superhero adventure Avengers: Endgame, in which she reprised her role as Pepper Potts, Iron Man’s love interest.
The actress, who is married to producer Brad Falchuk, has scaled back her “amazing acting career” to focus on goop, the wellness brand she launched in 2008 and grew into an estimated $250 million business.
Last year he said he would “consider” potentially returning to the screen.
“I’m happy with what I do at Goop now, but I never say never,” she told a panel at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
“I don’t know what the future holds for me. If I’m not busy running Goop and one of my best friends tells me to come and do that with us, maybe I’ll consider it.”

Paltrow’s last major big-screen appearance was in Marvel’s 2019 hit Avengers: Endgame, in which she reprised her role as Pepper Potts alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
Paltrow, the daughter of director Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner, was cast by her godfather Steven Spielberg in 1991’s Hook, four years before her breakthrough role in 1995’s Se7en.
She won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and became a main part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in addition to enjoying roles in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Se7en, Shallow Hal, Contagion and Sliding Doors, among others.
Chalamet, who is dating Kylie Jenner, is currently enjoying a meteoric rise to Hollywood stardom and a growing collection of Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for films including Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy and Wonka.
The actor, who rose to fame thanks to his role in the sci-fi hit Dune, will play Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown.
