With almost a century of royal service under its belt, the queen always looks pristine to public performances.
But even though she might have the best beautician in the world, Her Majesty does her own make-up all year round, only hiring a professional to record the message on Christmas Day.
Royal dresser Angela Kelly, who has worked with Elizabeth II for the last 25 years, revealed that when the queen records the annual Christmas speech, she makes sure that TV makeup artist Marilyn Widdess is there on the day of filming.
Despite the fact that she has the best beauticians in the world and her beck and call, Her Majesty does her own make-up all year round and only hires a professional for her recording of the message on Christmas Day (pictured with Prince Philip in 2011 at the Braemar Highland Games)
& # 39; You may be surprised that this is the only occasion during the year that Her Majesty does not make her own make-up & # 39 ;, she said in her new book, The Other Side of the Coin: the Queen, the Dresser and the wardrobe.
At 93, the distinctive look of the monarch includes a pop of fuchsia pink lipstick, a subtle blusher and a light eyeliner.
The Queens biographer, Sally Bedell Smith, has previously claimed that the royal is a fan of Clarin's lipstick.
Besides Clarins, she is also a fan of Elizabeth Arden products.

And the queen is certainly not the only royal who likes to operate without the services of a glamorous team.
Her granddaughter Kate Middleton has reportedly put on her own makeup for her wedding to come to the throne, Prince William.
Meghan Markle hired her girlfriend Daniel Martin to create her bridal look for her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, but prefers to do it only for her royal engagements.
Daniel previously told People magazine: & # 39; She did her make-up herself. She's not picky – she's just trying to get it on and go out. & # 39;

The beauty guru of the Duchess of Sussex also revealed that he had arranged Meghan's wedding day via text message because the couple was too busy to do a test run.
He told Harper & # 39; s Bazaar earlier this year he was too busy to travel to London in advance, so they had no opportunity to practice the look – despite about 17 million people tuning in to watch the big day.
& # 39; I was in New York and she was in London and there was no time because of my crazy schedule to go there & # 39 ;, said Martin, who came to Meghan in New York last week for her lavish baby shower.
& # 39; I knew exactly what she wanted and the day of the wedding was just when we came together and did her make-up in the usual way. & # 39;
