A puppy has become a viral sensation thanks to her adorable ‘mustache’ that would turn Hercule Poirot green with envy.

Six-month-old miniature bull terrier Frida lives with owners Helena Ólöf Snorradóttir, 22, and her partner Snorri Valgarðsson, 21 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

The couple found Frida through a breeder and were immediately drawn to her unique appearance – the puppy accidentally has a tash, the result of her black discoloration just above her lip.

Her quirky feature, which resembles Agatha Christie’s famous character, is even more visible when she ‘smiles’ – and she’s clearly melting hearts on the internet with 14,300 followers on Instagram so far.

“The first time we saw her, the first thing we noticed, she was a clog with ears like a rabbit and a very stylish mustache,” said Helena, who works as a teacher.

It was one of the reasons I started her Instagram page.

“Her little face made us so happy every day and I thought it was a shame not to share it with the rest of the world.”

Helena had wanted a bull terrier from a young age and was over the moon to find Frida – saying it was a ‘sign from the universe’ when she got the call from a breeder.

She said: ‘A week after we found out there was a breeder in Iceland, we got a message that she had a female to introduce us to.

On the morning of Sunday, November 22, 2020, I got the news that my grandmother had just passed away, so I rushed to say goodbye to the family.

‘In the midst of this, I got a message from the breeder that I could come to Frida and I did.

‘My family and I are really superstitious, so it felt like a sign from the universe.

It was as if my grandmother gave me a parting gift that made my lifelong dream come true.

“Her life for a new life, so as soon as I saw Frida I knew she would be mine.”

Frida’s Instagram snaps get thousands of likes and comments from her fans and are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The pup is a natural in front of the camera and can often be found radiant with her thick black ‘mustache’ on full screen.

One of her most recent photos shows the puppy relaxing in bed while grinning at the camera, clearly pleased with her owner’s scratches back.

Helena and Snorri also recently shared a throwback photo of when Frida was a little pup – and her mustache was even more striking back then.

Another hilarious photo shows Frida enjoying a beer at her local pub and looking very smart in a trendy raincoat.

Helena has been overwhelmed by the response from fans and had no idea her dog was going to be such a big hit.

She said: ‘At first it was just a few family and friends following her page and then it kind of spread across Iceland as we don’t have much of her race here.

People were curious and then one of her Instagram photos was reposted three times until it completely blown up on the internet and her followers started to grow and grow.

‘We started getting messages from people all over the world telling us how Frida makes them laugh or how she makes their days more beautiful and that’s what makes it all so worthwhile.

“Never in my small life did I ever expect her to grow this big.”

But Helena says that not everyone is a fan of Frida’s unique look and that she has been on the receiving end of some critical comments.

However, that doesn’t stop them from sharing uplifting snaps of the happy pup.

She added: “We get a little hate here and there from people commenting on her paws in use or the way she looks, but to us she’s perfect just the way she is.

“We will continue to do our best to keep putting smiles on people’s faces and sharing our treasure with the world to bring a little more positivity to the world in these horrifying times.”
