Starting this week, you can finally pick up a two-pack of Eero Pro 6 mesh Wi-Fi 6 routers for under $400. The Amazon-owned move will give you more affordable choices for upgrading your existing Wi-Fi. router to a faster, more powerful option.
First announced when the Eero Pro 6 launched last year, the two-pack is now available through Amazon and Best Buy (although oddly not on Eero’s own site). And currently, both sites are offering an additional 20 percent discount for Prime and Best Buy members through September 28. That means you can cover a 3,500-square-foot home with fast Wi-Fi goodness for around $320 using this tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh router. (The single unit and three-pack are also currently discounted.)
Previously your options were a single Eero Pro 6″ to cover 2,000 square feet for $229 or the more than most people need three-pack to cover 6,000 square feet for $599. It’s been possible to buy two Eero Pro 6 devices, but not easy. You had to search for it on Amazon, and if you happened to land on BestBuy.com or Eero’s own website, you’d be out of luck or pay an extra $60 for two individual Eeros.
The Eero two-pack is ideal for anyone whose living space is somewhere between a studio apartment and a three-bedroom house in the ‘burbs’. And of course, Wi-Fi coverage isn’t just about space. If you have 1,500 square feet segmented by thick brick walls and want a wireless way to spread the speed, an extra node or two will definitely come in handy.
The Eero Pro 6 mesh system offers gigabit speed, Wi-Fi 6 and tri-band performance. The satellite nodes you place around your house also have two Ethernet ports, so you can plug a TV or game console into one for a more reliable connection without having to be in the same room as your modem.
The Eeros also have a built-in Zigbee smart home hub – which you can use to connect select Zigbee devices, including smart light bulbs, door locks, smart plugs and smart sensors. While it acts as the hub, you still need the Amazon Alexa app and an Amazon account to set up and manage the devices.
Offering this third price option brings the very expensive Eero Pro 6 closer to competitors such as Asus, with its two-pack ZenWiFi AX Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System for $450. However, the Asus offers more control over network settings, which the Eero, despite its Pro tag, can’t match.
If the price is still too high for you, the non-professional Eero 6 routers cost $279 for a three-pack and cover up to 5,000 square feet. But you only get a dual-band setup and the recommended speeds top out at 500 Mbps.
