“It’s not a question of money … Moussa will be with us”: Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas excludes Dembele again from the midst of Premier League interest in the January window
- The president of Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, once again excluded the sale of Moussa Dembele
- Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in buying the French striker
- However, Aulas will not consider leaving its esteemed property in January
The president of Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, has again ruled out that Moussa Dembele will be sold in the January transfer window.
Chelsea is very interested in closing a deal for the French striker, while Manchester United also wants to land the former Celtic and Fulham star.
It was thought that it would be almost impossible to get Dembele out of the Ligue 1 side before the end of this month and Aulas has once again closed all discussions about releasing his esteemed property.
The president of Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, has deviated the chance that striker Moussa Dembele would leave
Aulas stopped talking about releasing his esteemed property amid the interest of the Premier League
Speak at RMC, he said: “We have not changed our mind. We already made this problem clear in August.
‘Moussa is an excellent player. A player we need.
‘We take explicit measures in our recruitment to ensure that no one will compete for his position. It is not a question of money. Moussa will be with us. “
Scouts from both Manchester City and United, as well as Premier League rivals Newcastle and West Ham, were present to see Dembele score in Lyon’s win in Bordeaux last week.
Chelsea also saw him in action and the Blues had rejected an offer earlier this month by Lyon but Sportsmail understands that they are still enthusiastic about the 23-year-old despite his current side that he is not going to sell him.
Dembele has so far scored 14 goals this season and a large number of English clubs have scouted him
He already has 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season and his score for the campaign in all competitions is 14.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is free to spend after the Blues are no longer allowed to sign in during the summer and has identified Dembele as a player who would improve his forward options.
In the meantime, Solskjaer urgently needs another forward option because he failed to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
United has so far been this campaign far too dependent on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and needs another target source in their pursuit of Champions League football.
The history of Dembele – he started his professional career with Fulham before moving to Celtic and then Lyon – means he has to slide effortlessly into the squadrons of United and Chelsea.
