A popular music festival in Queensland has been canceled due to the corona virus.

The organizers of Woodford Folk Fest took to social media on Friday to announce it would be canceled.

“It feels so unreal to write those words,” the message read on social media.

‘We had been hinting at this for weeks, but we wanted to be able to share good news at the same time.’

Bill Hauritz, Festival and Executive Director of Woodfordia, said: ‘Our team spent a lot this year hoping we could make a scaled-down version of Woodford, but the more we studied the more impossible it got.

We can never meet reasonable guidelines that the authorities have rightly set to make it safe in this Covid-19 world. ‘

Organizers announced that a new camping holiday would take place in September instead of the Woodford Folk Festival.

Bushtime is a five day and night camping vacation held between September 19-23 and September 26-30 can go hiking, biking and picnicking in remote places.

Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said the revamped version would create jobs and the Queensland government backed it.

Woodford Folk Fest is not the first festival to be canceled in 2020 due to corona virus.

Falls Music and Arts Festival canceled their show in Marion Bay, Tasmania on July 14 for 2020, but have not ruled out shows in NSW, Victoria and WA in 2020 and 2021.

The popular festival Splendor In The Grass has also been canceled for 2020.

Dark Mofo and Groovin the Moo were also canceled earlier this year due to the pandemic.
