The NFL says they will NOT comment on OJ Simpson’s death… and the running back’s former teams also remain silent following his passing at age 76.

OJ Simpson’s death has drawn condolences from several people and organizations, but not from the NFL or the team he was most associated with, the Buffalo Bills.

After contacting the NFL to ask if they plan to release a statement about Simpson, a league spokesperson told DailyMail.com that they do not plan to do so.

The Bills have not yet responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Simpson passed away Thursday after a long battle with cancer at the age of 76.

News of his death spread quickly, even reaching the White House, where press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made a statement.

The NFL does not plan to issue a statement following the death of OJ Simpson on Thursday

Neither the league nor the Buffalo Bills have issued statements regarding the running back’s death.

‘Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Obviously with his family and his loved ones,” said Jean-Pierre.

“And I say this: I know they’ve asked for some privacy, and so we’re going to respect that.”

Aside from the NFL and the Bills, neither the University of Southern California nor the San Francisco 49ers have offered statements.

The Heisman Trophy committee released a statement saying, “The Heisman Trophy Trust mourns the passing of 1968 Heisman Trophy winner OJ Simpson.” We extend our deepest condolences to his family.’

That statement has generated a lot of backlash from people angry that he would be honored after the crimes he was accused of or found guilty of.
