The newest robust tablet from Samsung is now available in the US, starting at $ 599.99

Samsung today announced that the Galaxy Tab Active Pro, the newest robust tablet designed for people working outdoors or in industrial areas, is now available in the US for $ 599.99. (Previously it was only available in certain markets.) It is primarily a business-oriented device, so you can currently only purchase it from Samsung's channel partners. According to Samsung, a version with LTE support that works with the four major US providers is available on November 15 for $ 679.99.

The Tab Active Pro has a 10.1-inch screen of 1920 x 1200, higher than the eight-inch screen in the previous robust tablet from Samsung, the Tab Active 2, and will have a maximum brightness of 550 nits. However, unlike the Tab Active 2, the physical Recent, Start, and Back buttons of the Tab Active Pro are in the lower ring when the tablet is in landscape position – the Tab Active 2 has them in the lower ring in portrait position.

Both the tablet and the included S-Pen (which is located in a slot on the side of the device) are IP68 certified and offer considerable water and dust resistance. According to Samsung, the device is also shock-resistant, with a MIL-STD 810G certification. And the manufacturer says that the screen will feel the touch even if you wear "light work gloves", which can be useful if you regularly wear gloves in your work.

The tablet has midrange specifications, despite being a "Pro" device: a 2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 670 processor, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage (to which you can add up to 512 GB with a microSD card) . However, it has a user-replaceable, fast-charging 7,600 mAh battery that Samsung says will last up to 15 hours, a substantial upgrade of the 11-hour battery life of the Tab Active 2. It also has a 13MP camera on the back, an 8MP camera on the front, a fingerprint sensor, a headphone connection, charges via USB-C and works with POGO pin-based accessories such as chargers and keyboards.

The Tab Active Pro is the first robust tablet from Samsung with DeX, with which you can connect the tablet to a monitor so that you can use it as a desktop. Also new is a special button on top of the device that you can program to open a frequently used application.

For rougher types of work environments, the Galaxy Tab Active Pro can be a good tool to use while working without having to worry about possible damage to the device.
