Actress Jessica Chastain has led an outrage against Time Magazine after both Christine Blasey Ford and the man who accused her of sexually assaulting her, Brett Kavanaugh, were part of the annual list of the 100 most influential people.
Kavanaugh was controversially – and narrowly – appointed Supreme Court Supreme Court in October and concluded a narrative and intense nomination hearing that included various allegations of sexual misconduct.
The most vocal of the prosecutors, Blasey Ford, claimed that Kavanaugh tried to rape her at a party when they were teenagers.
& # 39; So disappointing & # 39 ;, Chastain said on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. & # 39; You put her on the same list as the man she said attacked her & # 39 ;.
Kavanaugh was controversially – and narrowly – appointed Supreme Court of the Supreme Court in October. He was named Wednesday as the & # 39; Influential Leaders & # 39; from Time
Also on the list was his prosecutor, Christine Blasey Ford, who was named as a & # 39; icon & # 39; for her testimony to the judicial committee in October last year.
Actress Jessica Chastain expressed her anger at Ford, and the man she claimed sexually abused her, as mentioned in the same list of influencers
The actress added that Ford thought that Ford was larger than Kavanaugh in terms of influence – and that she was not alone in her contempt.
& # 39; TIME magazine profiling Christine Blasey Ford and the man who sexually abused her are & # 39; both sides & # 39; from the top and I am so tired, & # 39; said feminist author Jessica Valenti. & # 39; Here is this incredible brave woman … and the man who tried to rape her! & # 39;
You put her on the same list as the man she said attacked her, & Chastain said Wednesday. & # 39; So disappointed & # 39 ;.
Separated into categories, Time & # 39; s annual compilation named Kavanaugh as an & # 39; influential leader & #; with senate leader Mitch McConnell making him the & # 39; most qualified supreme court nominees in modern history & # 39; calls.
However, Ford was in the & # 39; Icon & # 39; category. In her doctor's profile, Senator Kamala praised Harris Ford for her courage & # 39; to those who wanted to silence her & # 39 ;.
She added that Ford was also forcing the country to tackle the otherwise largely ignored issue of sexual violence and & # 39; seemed to cast a spotlight on how we treat survivors & # 39; – endanger everything during this process.
The list, first established in 1999, aims to bring attention to those who inspire, entertain, challenge and change our world, but not necessarily for the better.
Previous controversial newcomers included North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and spiritual leader of the Taliban, Mohammad Omar.
But regardless of tradition, the social media was full of criticism of the publication and fooled the composers of the list because they had not dealt with the sensitive subject of sexual violence in a finer way.
At Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing last year, Ford told the Judiciary Committee that she believed it was her & # 39; civil duties & # 39; was to report her alleged encounter with Kavanaugh, where she says he stopped her and sexually assaulted her during a high school party
Senator Kamala Harris, who wrote Ford's profile in the magazine, praised the doctor for her courage & # 39; to those who wanted to keep her silent & # 39;
As with Chastain, others have expressed the same contempt for the two mentioned in the same list
& # 39; Imagine making Time & # 39; s 100 Most Influential People list because you have accused a prominent man of sexual assault and then discovering that he is on the same list & # 39 ;, said political journalist Laura Basset .
& # 39; How many ways can we traumatize Blasey Ford again, & # 39; she asked later.
Others agreed: & # 39; You can't be the cause and then reward the problem, Time, & # 39; another tweeter said. & # 39; Even if he is now a Supreme Court judge. & # 39;
At Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing last year, Ford told the Judiciary Committee that she believed it was her & # 39; civil duty & # 39; was to report her alleged encounter with Kavanaugh.
She told the panel that during a high school party, she reminded her that Kavanaugh had held her in bed and violently touched her. Ford said she believed & # 39; that she would be raped and that Kavanaugh accidentally & # 39; would kill.
The now Supreme Court Justice repeatedly denied the allegations and simply claimed that the meeting had never happened.
Despite the media zeal and Senator Harris insisting that both Ford and the American people & # 39; earn better & # 39 ;, Kavanaugh was nominated to beat Anthony Kennedy with a 50 to 48 vote.
