Rio de Janeiro police are searching for a woman who allegedly poisoned her boyfriend to death just days after they were caught on camera kissing in an elevator.

Luiz Ormond was found dead in his apartment on May 20 after concerned neighbors called 911 due to a foul odor emanating from his home.

Investigators believe that Júlia Cathermol poisoned the brigadeiros – a traditional Brazilian dessert that resembles a pastry – that the businessman had consumed.

While the autopsy report did not reveal the cause of death, the medical examiner found chocolate residue in Ormond’s digestive tract.

Ormond’s body, which was in a state of advanced decomposition, was found lying on a living room couch with a mark on his head consistent with a head injury.

Two fans were left on, including one on the floor that overlooked an open window. The police also recovered a packet of morphine.

Neighbors told authorities they last saw Ormond walking with Cathermol outside the building’s pool on May 17.

A surveillance camera mounted in the elevator showed Ormond holding a plate wrapped with what authorities believe may have been the poisoned brigadeiros while Cathermol carried a bottle.

The couple kissed in the elevator before stopping on a floor, where a woman entered. Ormond and Cathermol made small talk with the woman until they exited the elevator.

A second surveillance camera showed Cathermol leaving the gym and returning to the apartment on May 19.

Suyany Breschat was arrested on Wednesday for her alleged role in the murder of Luiz Ormond. She told police that Ormond's girlfriend, Júlia Cathermol, sold her car to settle a $115,000 debt he owed her.

Authorities said Cathermol stayed at the apartment over the weekend and left with the suitcases on the afternoon of May 20.

Authorities on Wednesday arrested Suyane Breschak, a friend of Cathermol, for allegedly helping her get rid of Ormond’s personal possessions, including a car that sold for $14,000, according to a Brazilian media outlet. G1.

Breschak told investigators that Cathermol used the money to pay off a $115,000 debt that spanned five years. He added that Cathermol had been paying him about $960 a month.

She also revealed that Cathermol worked as a prostitute and that she was hired as a ‘spiritual mentor’ so that her ex-boyfriends and family would not find out what kind of business she was really involved in.

A man who bought the vehicle in the town of Cabo Frio was questioned by police and showed a handwritten note as proof that the car was in his name.

He was carrying Ormond’s laptop and cell phone and was arrested for possession of stolen property.
