A mountainside home once owned by the late Burt Reynolds has sold for a whopping $2.9 million – the stunning abode is located near the filming location of an iconic scene from the 1972 rural thriller Deliverance.

Located in Highlands, North Carolina, the four-bedroom, six-bathroom property is about an hour’s drive from the town of Sylva.

It was Sylva that served as the backdrop for Deliverance’s pivotal opening sequence, in which the four main characters, all businessmen from Atlanta, come across an abandoned town while on their way to begin a canoe trip down a nearby river.

It’s also where the cinematically acclaimed “banjo dueling” segment took place, in which businessman Drew (Robby Cox) and a local inbred boy (Billy Redden) engage in a banjo jam session.
