Tributes have poured in for a 15-year-old boy following a tragic motorcycle accident last weekend.

Amelia Kotze, 15, described as a “track champion”, died in Sydney hospital on Tuesday after being seriously injured while competing in the Central Coast Cup on Saturday.

His death has shocked the motorcycling community and a Motorcycling NSW spokesperson sent a heartfelt tribute to Kotze and his family.

‘Amelia was more than just a rising star in the world of dirt track; “she was a beacon of talent, determination and sportsmanship,” the spokesperson said.

“His impressive achievements speak volumes about his dedication to the sport.”

Emergency services were called to Somersby at around 2pm on Saturday after reports of a motorcycle accident.

Amelia was in critical condition and was airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital. She was treated in the intensive care unit before being pronounced dead on May 28.
