The mother of Mexican soccer star Carlos Salcedo is wanted in connection with the murder of a man who was allegedly shot to death over an inheritance in 2023.
A judge in the western state of Jalisco issued the arrest warrant for Maria Hernandez on January 30, Mexican media reported Friday.
Hernández and her daughter, Martha Salcedo, who was shot dead outside a circus in Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, on June 29, allegedly orchestrated the murder of José Félix ‘N’ on March 7, 2023.
A prosecution witness said Martha Salcedo approached Jose Felix just two days before he was shot and told him it would be “the last time I tell you to give back what’s not yours. It’s my mother’s and mine.”

When José Félix challenged Martha Salcedo to take action on the spot, Paola Salcedo responded: ‘I’m not going to do anything to you, but rest assured that I will tell my boyfriend to kill you if you don’t give me back what belongs to my family and not yours.’
María Hernández issued a pre-recorded statement on her social media on Monday morning, in which she indicated that it was the first time she had heard of such accusations and questioned the Prosecutor’s Office’s claims.
“The arrest warrant was issued without warning us, without having presented any documents,” said Hernández. “And in my case there was no arrest warrant, no document, and no names were given to those responsible. Strangely, the arrest warrant appeared after I asked for justice for my daughter.”
Hernandez said there was no way her daughter could have directly threatened to kill Jose Felix because he was caring for her after an operation.
“Totally false, because on March 3 I had surgery and when I was discharged, my daughter was with me the whole time I was recovering, my daughter was with me for more than 10 days,” Hernandez said. “I don’t know how my daughter could have been in two places.”

Andrea Navarro was also surprisingly accused by her mother-in-law Maria Hernandez of planning the murder of Mexican television presenter and public relations specialist Martha Salcedo.
She also denied accusations that she and her daughter wanted José Félix’s inheritance.
“I am a retired person, a pensioner. My daughter was a financially solvent person and in reality we are not even close relatives to claim an inheritance,” she said, adding that the only people she knew who were involved in an inheritance dispute related to the custody of her mother and sister were her husband and brothers and that they stayed away from the court proceedings.
The shocking allegations come as Hernandez seeks justice for the cold-blooded murder of Martha Salcedo.
On July 6, Hernandez accused Carlos Salcedo and his second wife, Andrea Navarro, of carrying out the murder.
Carlos Salcedo had asked Liga MX club Cruz Azul to release his contract and allow him to sign with a team outside of Mexico.
“The real reason Carlos Salcedo wants to leave the country is because he and his wife Andrea Navarro are the masterminds behind Paola (Martha)’s murder,” Maria said, referring to her daughter.
The shocking allegations came just hours after two suspects, including the shooter, were arrested.
Carlos Salcedo was interviewed by the Attorney General of the State of Mexico on July 18 as part of the investigation.
The defender, who has 47 caps for the Mexican national team, signed a three-year contract this weekend with FC Juárez, which plays its home game in the northern border city of Ciudad Juárez, opposite El Paso, Texas. He last played for the Liga MX club during the 2022-23 season.
