Three generations of a Massachusetts family were injured when their mobile home exploded just before they were due to depart for the Grand Canyon.
A grandfather, father and son were preparing their vehicle for a cross-country adventure Tuesday when it burst into flames outside their home on Walker Road in Peabody.
Security cameras captured the terrifying moment the mobile home caught fire and devastated the neighborhood. The flames were so intense that they melted the siding of the family home.
One of the men was seen running away from the fire and rolling on the ground as it burned.
“We heard a huge explosion and then I looked out the window and saw tons of smoke going up into the sky,” said neighbor John O’Donnell. Community of Neighbors Neighbors.

The names of the men have not been released, but they are said to be between 20 and 70 years old, according to ZBW.
The Peabody Fire Department confirmed that all three victims were talking and alert when they were taken to the hospital, it reported. Because?.
“We were able to get the fire under control quickly with water and all firefighters did a great job keeping it from spreading to homes,” said Fire Chief Jay Dowling.
“It could have been worse. Yes, there could have been fatalities. It could have also spread to houses, so the firefighters had to do a lot of work to extinguish the fire.”
Neighbors said the explosions shook their homes and the flames were so strong that they melted the siding on the family’s house.
The cause of the explosion is unknown and the remains of the RV were towed from the scene.
All that was left was a shell of the vehicle and the video shows that all of its windows, walls and the entire front were destroyed.
The men are beloved in the community and neighbors said they regularly take RV vacations.
“They’re very good people. They’re friends of mine. I was worried about the kids and everybody else,” O’Donnell said.
The motorhome was destroyed with all its windows and walls destroyed by the fire.
