A mortified BBC presenter was caught staring at her phone for a full minute during a live broadcast.
Annita McVeigh, 46, was left visibly blushing as she realised the midday news bulletins had gone completely silent as she scrolled through her phone due to a technical glitch.
Blissfully unaware of the awkward silence, Annita was seen looking at her iPhone and talking to her production team.
The blunder lasted more than a minute before the presenter realised she was already broadcasting live on television.
She then appeared like a professional news anchor as she fixed her hair while the top stories of the day began to play.

The clip later became the headline of evening newspapers, including a special report titled “Inside Afghanistan.”

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user wrote: “The moment Annita started checking her phone was when I started panicking.”
‘This is very funny’
‘There seem to be a lot more technical errors on BBC News these days… is it the same team doing the botched job on the new Newsnight?’
‘Annita is a real professional, she laughs about it’
‘I thought my laptop speakers weren’t working properly.’
‘Reading your shopping list’
