A five-year-old girl who went missing on Monday evening in South Carolina after her mother was murdered in their home is thought dead by the authorities.
The Sumter Police Department released a statement on Tuesday afternoon stating that the search for Nevaeh Lashy Adams has become a recovery mission after a suspect was arrested and confessed that he had killed both the woman and the child.
The girl was nowhere to be found when a relative discovered the body of her mother, 29-year-old Sharee Bradley, in her unit at Lantana Apartments at Gamecock Village Court in Sumter on Monday around 6:00 PM.

Sumter Police spokesperson Tonyia McGirt said police officers arrested 28-year-old Daunte Maurice Johnson, described as a transient, after he was seen walking away from Bradley's house.
The prison records show that Johnson has been charged with murder.
Upon interrogation, police said Johnson confessed to having murdered Bradley, with whom he was known, and her daughter, and had also provided information that could lead to Nevaeh's body.
