A terrace in South Melbourne that once hosted music icons The Beatles has been sold just before Christmas.

The 262 Albert Road home was previously owned by music promoter Kenn ‘Mr Showbiz’ Brodziak, who hosted the Fab Four on their world tour in the 1960s.

The sellers, unrelated to Mr. Brodziak, put the 1891-built property and separate, adjacent title on the market late last year with a price guide of between $5.4 million and $5.65 million, reports realestate.com.au.

Marshall White Port Phillip director and auctioneer Oliver Bruce said many parties were interested in the house, with its musical fame as a driver for buyers, but in the end a Melbourne family who was downsizing took the keys.

“There were a few parties interested when it finally came down to it, but they… [the buyers] were interested from the moment it was going to be sold as a single block,’ said Mr. Bruce.

He added that The Beatles’ minor role in the house’s history was a point of interest during the campaign.

“It certainly was a striking print, especially at the time of the new Beatles documentary coming out” [in late 2021]said Mr. Bruce.

It was the first time in 20 years that the property had been sold to a new buyer.

The property has four bedrooms, including a master bedroom with marble gas fireplace, walk-in closet and balcony, plus two bathrooms and a private carport with space for four vehicles.

It also features Baltic pine floors, ornate vaulted ceilings, a fashionable formal dining room, gourmet kitchen with quality appliances, private courtyard and backyard pool.

The home is located directly across from Albert Park Lake and has a beautiful view of the water.

Brodziak entertained The Beatles — consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr — at his former home in 1964 during the band’s world tour.

The promoter had struck a deal to fly the famed quartet Down Under before they reached the peak of their fame.

The contract was widely regarded as a ‘coup’ for the music industry guru.

Brodziak also mainly brought Bob Dylan to Australia in 1966.
