A scammer who has hit his own throat through the courtroom has been convicted of using Tinder to lure a Nebraska woman to her death and then cutting her body into 14 pieces.
Aubrey Trail, 52, could now risk the death penalty after a jury found him guilty of murder and criminal conspiracy on Wednesday to commit a murder in 24-year-old Sydney Loofe's death in 2017.
The jury only needs three hours to convict Trail and a second phase of the trial now begins on Thursday to determine if he should be executed.
Trail and his 25-year-old girlfriend Bailey Boswell were both accused of killing Loofe and dumping her disintegrated body parts into garbage bags along a highway near Omaha in December 2017.
He had claimed that Loofe's death happened by accident during rough sex with him and Boswell.
Trail missed much of his own court case after he cut his own neck in the courtroom on 24 June. He screamed & # 39; Bailey is innocent and I curse you all & # 39; before he uses anything to cut his throat.
He chose to skip the rest of the process and did not return until Tuesday with his gruesome scars clearly visible as he testified in his own defense.
Trail went to the tribune and shocked his own lawyers by admitting that he had previously lied to authorities and his own legal team about Loofe's death.

Prosecutors had previously told the court that the couple had used Tinder to lure Loofe to her death after plotting her kidnapping and murder.
Three women testified during his trial about how Trail women via the dating app to a & # 39; sex culture & # 39; seduced and convinced them that he was a vampire who could fly and read thoughts. They said Trail tried to convince them that they had more & # 39; powers & # 39; could get if they killed people.
The women participated in group sex with Trail, Boswell, and other women in exchange for a weekly allowance and helped him with a scam antiques store he ran.

Prosecutors said that Trail and Boswell were already planning to kill someone before Boswell met Loofe at Tinder.
Boswell would ask young women for help through social media sites, and she and her boyfriend had chosen a victim together, the court heard.
Trail said that he and Boswell met Loofe a few months earlier, but she did not want to participate in their other crimes. He said that they have revived a relationship through Tinder in November 2017.
Trail said they were trying to get her into the group, but she didn't want to scare people off with the antique scam.
Months later, Trail said that Boswell found Loofe at Tinder and arranged a date. He said Loofe didn't recognize Boswell initially because she wore a lot of makeup on her profile photos.
Trail told the court that Loofe & # 39; panic & # 39; when she met Boswell but later agreed to a second Tinder date the night she was dead.
He said the date will eventually be a & # 39; sex party & # 39; involving all three of them.
Trail said he choked Boswell with a power cord while having sex with Loofe before the roles were reversed. He claimed that Loofe was fascinated while he choked her while she was having sex with Boswell.
He said that Loofe & # 39; s lips then turned blue and she started coughing.

Loofe was cut into 14 different pieces when she was found. Her body also showed signs that she had wrestled before her death, including a torn ear lobe and bruises on her thighs, wrists, and head.
Trail, who initially denied any involvement and said he had killed 14 other people, said he lied to investigators to throw them off the scent.
He denied that they had always had a plan to get rid of her body and said they panicked after she died. Trail admitted cutting her body using a bow-type saw.
Trail's own lawyers had previously argued that Loofe's death was an accident during a sexual private fantasy.
The defense said during the trial that Loofe had agreed to participate with Trail in a & # 39; sexual suffocation & # 39; as part of a filmed fantasy. Loofe needed money at the time, and she agreed to participate in exchange for payment, the defense said.
But Trail admitted during his testimony on Tuesday that none of that was true and that he accidentally strangled Loofe during rough sex involving only he and Boswell.
& # 39; I cannot return Sydney. I killed her. I didn't mean it, but I did, & Trail told the court.
& # 39; Only me, Bailey and Sydney were there the night Sydney died. I will discuss how it happened, I think, but there were no two other girls, there was no sexual fantasy, no $ 15,000 was paid for sexual fantasy. & # 39;
Prosecutors said that Trail repeatedly changed his story during the investigation and the lawsuit.
Authorities said that Trail and Boswell were recorded on video in a Home Depot purchase tool that Loofe sold off a few hours before her death and while she was still at work.
During Trail & # 39; s trial, the court heard that Loofe was cut into 14 different pieces.
A forensic pathologist also testified that Loofe & # 39; s body showed signs that she had fought before her death.
Dr. Michelle Elieff said she thought Loofe's earlobe was torn and had bruises on her wrists, the back of her head, and on her inner thighs.
She added that the bruises showed that Loofe was reluctant and that she struggled before she died of suffocation.
Defense lawyers argued that the injuries sustained in the fight were the result of rugged, consensual sex.
Dr. Elieff agreed when she was asked if that could be the case.
Three women had previously testified about how Trail would trick women through Tinder into a so-called sex cult and convince them that he was a vampire who could fly and read thoughts.
The last time anyone heard of Loofe was on November 15 when she posted a picture of herself on Snapchat, with the image: & # 39; Ready for my date & # 39;
The women said they were all recruited through Boswell & # 39; s Tinder account between July and November 2017.
They described how Trail them & # 39; dad & # 39; and how they dealt with him with group sex, Boswell and other women. The woman said that Trail also referred to Boswell as the & # 39; queen witch & # 39 ;.
A woman testified that Trail had a group of witches and that, in order to become one of them, she had to kill someone and & # 39; take their last breath & # 39 ;, reports the Omaha Herald.
She would have more & # 39; forces & # 39; If the killed person was tortured hours in advance, the woman testified.
The woman described a Walmart with Trail and Boswell to the supermarket. She said they asked her if she was ready for her first & # 39; murder & # 39 ;.
The woman said a potential Tinder date appeared, but eventually they left her in the grocery store, and Trail later said they would save her for another time & # 39 ;.
& # 39; It all sounded like it was real, very convincing, & # 39; she told the court.
The woman said she left the group before Loofe was killed. The woman said that Trail and Boswell would kill her family if she told someone what had happened.
Another woman testified that Trail and Boswell had imposed strict rules, including having to contact them every three hours to let them know where she was.
She was also not allowed to wear clothes in Trail & # 39; s house.
The woman told the court that she would be punished if she broke the rules, including where he choked her with a belt and another time he hit her in the head more than 10 times.
Trail he cut his neck and fell out of his wheelchair in the middle of a hearing. Delegates were filmed (top) rushing to help when Trail was bleeding on the floor
She testified that Trail and Boswell often talked about killing and torturing other victims because they had to strengthen their forces.
They reportedly talked about cutting people's eyelids, scalping them, cutting holes in people during sex, pouring acid on them and setting them on fire.
She said Trail and Boswell had a murder bag – which they & # 39; Bailey & # 39; s murder bag & # 39; – including a sauna suit, hammer and tongs.
The woman said that she initially agreed to participate in a murder. She also left the group before Loofe was killed.
Another part of being involved with Trail's sex cult was to help the couple harm others by buying and selling antiques.
The third woman testified that she was only interested in the antique side of it and was never interested in sex with the couple.
She said she never believed Trail when he spoke of vampires and witches, but testified that they regularly spoke of murder and torture.
Trail on Tuesday rejected the conversations they had in their group with other women about vampires and murders as just talking.
The last time anyone heard of Loofe was on November 15 when she posted a picture of herself on Snapchat, with the image: & # 39; Ready for my date & # 39 ;.
She was reported missing by her mother the next day when she did not show up for her cashier job at a hardware store.
Her disintegrated body was found a month later in garbage bags dumped in a field.
Final statements in the Trail test are expected on Wednesday.
If he is convicted, Trail can risk the death penalty.
Boswell may also be confronted with the death penalty if she is found guilty, but her trial does not begin until October.
