Chloe Ricard, 13, died within hours of being evicted from a hospital on May 20
He is also accused of sexually abusing another girl who has not been mentioned. Ricard died within a few hours. The cause of her death remains unclear.
According to police, Chloe and the other girl had been in Rivera's apartment on May 19, the day before she died, and most of the day on May 20.
It is unclear how she came in contact with him.
He was held without bail on Tuesday by a judge who found him too dangerous.
A hearing about being dangerous is scheduled for June 4.
Chloe & # 39; s family were in court for his accusation, but they did not comment afterwards.
They were seen wiping tears from their eyes during the procedure.
The family has planned a vigil for her on Tuesday afternoon prior to her private funeral.
They say the last time they saw her when she was on May 19, they dropped her off at a friend's house.
That night, when she didn't come home, they thought she had run away.
Chloe & # 39; s mother Deborah sobbed on the shoulders of her husband in the courtroom. She said that Chloe had struggled to recover from her father's death five years ago and had fallen with a bad crowd
Ricard was with another girl under the age of 16 according to researchers. It is unclear how Rivera knows them, but one source claimed he knew them before Sunday
They were on Sunday evening at the Bellevue Street apartment in Rivera and most of Monday
The next day they found out that she had been brought to the hospital in a cardiac arrest and that the man now referred to as Rivera was & # 39; kicked by the car & # 39 ;.
Her family says she was a difficult teenager who struggled with her father's death five years ago.
They believe they are at & # 39; the wrong place at the wrong time & # 39; used to be.
Stepfather Brian Dolan told news from Boston 25: & # 39; No pulse, nothing, they just drove in and dropped her off.
& # 39; She didn't even have a pulse when they pushed her out of the car. The only thing I've heard from another agency before is … that someone of 47 years old dropped her off.
& # 39; The one who did this to my little stepdaughter, believe me, I hope there's hell to pay because they threw her out of the car like a sack of trash.
& # 39; If that was your child, if that was your sister, if that was your brother, or your mother, or your father, what would you do? I'm outside of myself. & # 39;
