While many fans were excited to hear that Jon Snow will star in a Game of Thrones spin-off, HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orci cautioned that there is no guarantee the series will make it to the finish line.
In an interview with her deadline, Asked about the series that will see Kit Harington return to his famous role in Game of Thrones, Orci said it is still in the “very early stages” and much more needs to be done to revive it.
“We’re working closely with the authors to get it in enough shape to get a possible green light, but at this point, no, it’s not certain if it will stick to the end.”
Reports of Jon Snow’s existence came out in June 2022, and Game of Thrones creator George Martin revealed shortly after that it had the code name ‘Snow’ and that it was Kit Harington’s idea.
We don’t know much about the series, but Harrington has hinted a bit about what fans can expect from the series. As Harrington said:
“I think if you had asked him, he would have said he got away with it so easily. At the end of the series when we find him in that cell, he’s getting ready to beheaded and he wants it to happen. He’s had enough. The fact that he went to the wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.”
“He has to go back to the place that holds so many memories and live his life thinking about how he killed Dany, live his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, live his life thinking about how Ollie was hanged, live his life thinking about all these traumas, and that’s interesting.”
